Quote: Several tips on building Zehir:
- Use the Memory Mentor to get Arcane Omniscience. One of the prerequisite skills is Mentoring. By mission 4, he should have close to level 30, if not higher;
- Hire another Hero, and meet up with Zehir. Because of Mentoring, the new Hero will gain over 20 levels. Try and get Scholar with that Hero, this skill is pretty much key-critical for this method. Furthermore, get several Magic skills to expert (perks are not important, it's the skill level that is important). The more, the better; you could try 2 Heroes, both with different Magic Skills, if you don't get them all on 1 Hero (just make sure both have Scholar by the time you're done);
- Meet up with Zehir once again, so you learn all spells for which your second Hero has the Magic Schools (I told you to get Arcane Omniscience on Zehir and expert Magic skills as well as Scholar on the other Hero, right?)
- Now use the Memory Mentor to respec Zehir. Get the Magic skill(s) you want, along with the perk(s) you want.
- Meet Zehir with your secondary Hero(es) and re-learn all corresponding spells up to Expert level.
No need for continued Arcane Omniscience, and yet you have all spells available for the Magic Skill in question, along with the Perks you want.
The reason for this side-step is that spells learned through Arcane Omniscience are not permanent; when your Wizard unlearns Arcane Omniscience, he also unlearns the spells he didn't already learn directly. This is also the reason why a Hero with Arcane Omniscience still gets the message that he learned certain spells when he comes across a new one (Mage Guild or Magic Shrine). However, spells learned through Scholar are permanent.
Ummm....have you actually TRIED this? Because it doesn't work. At all. The spells learned solely through arcane omni DON'T transfer through scholar. I was unable to pass MANY spells (and no, they weren't the "new" spells either). Phoenix, Armageddon, Meteor Shower, etc, etc, etc. I had a hero with expert in all 4 schools AND with scholar. I got Zehir up to Arcane Onmi. I traded these two heroes and several spells passed between them...but they were only the ones that Zehir hadn't learned from the town yet. NONE of the spells passed to Narxes (except for the constant attempts to transfer call to arms and summon the town). Scholar does NOT work with tomes OR arcane omni. Please don't post theories as fact.

It did work for me in mission 3 of the Academy campaign. It was the way I got Wulfstan fully upped with Light Magic. He starts off with Expert Light Magic in that scenario, but lacks a load of spells because he has only 2 Mage Guilds available.
Hmm, I wonder if something else may have been at hand. I'll need to dig up a savegame of that mission and see if there's something that I missed about what happened.
Edit: Blegh, my apologies, I overlooked something. Turns out my Zehir also had Expert Light Magic, hence all Light Magic spells got carried over between the two Heroes.
I just verified, by giving Wulfstan Destructive Magic (something Zehir didn't have) and then meeting up. Indeed, Wulfstan did *not* learn the Destructive spells of Tier 3, 4 and 5 - as Zehir never got them from the Mage Guild to begin with.
My bad, I overlooked something. I will edit the post in which I claimed it, to remove the claim.

I think I have a bug here:
In mission 2, I can't find the tear. I'm looking at the spot and there's nothing there. Only a treasure chest a little further up from where the tear should be. Been staring at blank space and clicking for half an hr now.. O.o First time I did the mission (I'm at the second time now} the cursor actually changed to the "interest point" thingy, I double-clicked, hero closed up on the spot, cursor changed to hour-glass and then.. NOTHING HAPPENED!!
Is there a known bug? What can I do besides @win? I don't wanna miss the cute cut-scenes!

Did you actually dig for the Tear? That's something that's not clear from your post; the way I read it, you only move up to the spot where it is located. You still need to dig it up .

Quote: Hello!
Is there a "carpet mage" thing in academy campaign (to forget skill i dont need), and when, where? I want to pick ultimate with zehir, but this start with lv 25 (8) doenst suit this well.
Don't worry, a few days into the mission and you'll be down to level 9 . And about the Memory Mentors: don't worry about those either. My memory of mission 1 and 2 isn't entirely clear, but on mission 3 and 4 you will have one around. I believe you even have more than 1 in the final mission.
By the way, when I completed mission 1, my Zehir was level 28 and had the Ultimate. You just have to love the Altar of Sacrifice along with only towns that have an Artifact Merchant .
Edit: I've checked for you. Mission 1 has none, Mission 2 has 2 (but one is unreachable by Zehir - you'll see why), Mission 3 has 1 and Mission 4 has 2. If the level downgrade in Mission 1 doesn't force you to unlearn skills you don't need - or that even block your Ultimate path - I suggest to just restart Mission 1. Nothing much is lost timewise anyway.

You have to stand still on the exact spot where the Tear is located according to your puzzle map. Your Hero also cannot have a movement path on the map, because the "walk" icon in the lower right corner is overlaying the "dig" icon; it's in the very same spot. You can clear any possible movement paths by left-clicking on the Hero in question.
Last but not least, you will need a full day worth of movement points to dig it up; anything less will not suffice. So you have to reach the spot, wait your next turn (so you will have full movement points) and then dig it up. This will use up all movement points, by the way.

Would the Stronghold Ultimate be helpful in the final mission with Kujin? (Working on that now, almost have it and still havn't finished the orc campain). With Battle Elation and rally cry should really be able to build up rage. Stunning/excrutiating blow should help vs lots of succubi also. (And slow from your Earth/Sky daughters). I think Kujin right now is my strongest stronghold hero.

Personally I find the Stronghold Ultimate quite useful, even generally speaking.
In mission 3, the landing spot for the Academy town can be found on the surface. From your starting location, head southwest and locate the staircase leading up. Move up and on the surface, move north. You will soon, about halfway between the bottom and the top of the map, find a suitable location to build your town.

But remember, even without movement points you can still cast Town Portal.

I have lots of trouble with Ylaya on heroic actually.
(Well I also have lots of trouble with Freyda and Kujin but that's because my build isn't optimized. I think I have a shot with them if I have the patience to go back and rebuild.)
But how do you think Ylaya's fight is easy on heroic?
The enemy hero soon casted Armagaddon - my Catapult is gone! Nobody's Ammo cart survived. I had no way to get in the castle.
My empowered Deep Freeze kills about 56 out of 1000 Succubus each shot.
Gave them confusion - ok, they kill about 5% of my army each shot.
Enemy hero always uses Phantom Force on Succubus - and the clone always acts immediately next - kills 10% each shot.
Am I missing something very obvious? Without even the fight started I lost half of the army. And the succubus still have shots left (I Don't)! And it seems to me the enemy had a way to replenish those Succubus's shots.
***
Sorry scratch that. I just replayed the battle, and miraculously the enemy hero decided to rush out after I put confuse on the Succubus on the first turn. Everything became way easier. (But still, why does the clone always act right after being made?)

The higher the level of Summoning Magic mastery, the sooner the clones can act. If I am right, Expert Summoning makes the clones act right away.

I thought it was due to high level. I don't think a lvl 10 expert summoner can make a phantom act that fast.

It actually is due to the level I don't have a formula but it's easy to test it... try it with necro and you will see that your lvl 10 clone acts later than your level 20 clone (which will act immediately)

Once you clear out the dark elves the 4 level 7's will appear directly in front of Biara's castle in the center of the map. All 4 are willing to join you. From there...it's up to you.
