Oh, right, but I don't think they're a serious group. Sure, sometimes those conspiracy nuts, holycaust deniers, lizardpeople slayers, freemasons fearers come out big in the news and on anonymous sites, but they can't be pretty big or taken seriously. Anyway, the ancient greeks figured it out by looking at the stars. If a bunch of stargazers can figure it out, it's pretty obvious that we should be fairly that 99% of the world knows by now

Knew tommorrow? No, that is not right. I may not be the greatest at grammar, but even I know that doesn't sound correct.
Let me try to put into perspective the Hubble Telescope. Imagine you are on the shores of Florida with an old fashion telescope, looking out at the ocean. What would you see?
Now..picture that ocean's size to be about a trillion times larger. But the telescope is NOT a trillion times as powerful as that old fashion telescope. People by all indications space is blasted HUGE.
So you are honestly saying that with the technology we have today..that we are seeing even a fraction of a percent of what is out there? Really? Sorry don't buy it unless we are just WRONG about how large space is.

In case you hadn't heard it, here is consummate moron Pat Robertson on the earthquake in Haiti.
I don't know what's worse, what Pat Robertson said or that he said it in the context of trying to solicit money to fund his prayers for the nation of Haiti. Seriously, what kind of micrencephalic
dolts actually would send even a nickel to this unscrupulous, misinformed clown?

I don't watch Robertson. But it sounded mostly like he was saying good can come out of tragedy, which is true. Now, I certainly don't agree that the earthquake was the fault of some deal Hatian deal made with the devil centuries ago.
At least sending money to Robertson is voluntary if you don't want to, don't. I never have and never will myself.
Oh, and I don't think Robertson should be held to a higher "gaff" standard than the president and vice-president of the US. And unlike him, they get to force us to send money to Washington.
And certainly atheists have said some very terrible things and done very terrrible things that I could quote. Why would anyone buy books by Dawkins or Hitchens that are full of bigotted nonsense as they are? For example, saying religion is a disease and religious people are delusional. Or Stalin and the Leauge of Militant Atheists seeking to stamp out religion in the USSR through murder and other means.

Thank you for that, if you're town get's hit, I won't feel so bad about not sending any money!

Elodin stated that energy and matter is not eternal, due to the laws of thermodynamics. Doesn't the laws of thermodynamics say that energy can never dissappear, only be transformed? Another law of physics is e=mc^2. That means that energy is eternal, and that energy and mass can be transformed back and forth. The latter is proven by fission and fusion. The first is the one you claim to prove the existence of a god(s).
There's also proof that all matter has a gravity, which in theory reaches infinity, but with less and less effect. This means that matter in an area will sooner or later (actually later) be dragged into a big lump of matter. That will also be the only place where there's energy, since energy can only exist in matter. An example is the planets, which was just small pieces of matter, but drawn to each other they created bigger lumps of matter.
When enough matter is in one place it will compress and then collapse (implode), creating various effects. For example is supernovas or explosions.
So, probaply, trillions of billions of years from now, all matter in the universe will be gathered in one place, compress and collapse, creating a massive explosion. It is also possibly that all matter will transform to energy, meaning that there will be no matter (which is contradicting) and then transform to matter and explode. Creating the traditional big bang.
So, yeah, the universe can be eternal, and most likely is.

You haven't heard of Dark Matter have you? You know, there's observations that the Universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, not contracting, so whatever pulls it must be stronger than the total gravity of the Universe.Quote: So, yeah, the universe can be eternal, and most likely is.
I'm not sure how "most likely" that is given the current observations.

Yes, the universe is expanding. If all matter gathers and explodes it'll be thrown outwards, but will slowly pull itself together. It's like throwing an object upwards, just because it's moving up at first, doesn't mean it won't come down again.

No you don't get it at all. The universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. An object thrown upwards goes up but at a deccelerating rate -- it will eventually stop and go the opposite way. On the other hand the Universe goes faster and FASTER out -- like a rocket, not like a thrown ball!

I don't want to interrupt anyone here, but you might keep in mind that the relative speed of things to each other is not a function of objects moving through an existing and invariable space, but of space ITSELF expanding.
Imagine a balloon. On the surface of the balloon sit quite HEAVY discs of platinum denting that balloon in - the galaxies and concentrations of mass. Now imagine something's blowing the balloon up. Where the heavy mass is, not much happens; the mass keeps space tight and stable. However, in between that disks, where nothing is, SPACE (balloon surface) expands.
Viewed from the perspective of any of the discs it looks like all the other disks are MOVING, and maybe even moving FAST.
But in fact they just sit tight on their stretch of balloon and only space itself gets bigger.

I got three questions to religious people:
1. Do you consider God a male or genderless?
2. Do you view God as something as a "creature", something that lives, or just an universial energy?
3. If we found intelligent aliens on another planet, would you still believe in God? Since humans are supposed to be "Gods choosen made in his own image" et cetera and then we suddenly find out that there are millions of other planets like Earth with their own unique speices.
4. Isn't it possible that Jesus was gay? He hang out with 12 guys who wore dresses, one looks like a female in a painting.

1. Genderless
2. abstract being, a form of universal force
3. Yeah, why not?
4. His sexual preference doesn't really concern me and it concerns no one, tbh. He might have been. Who knows? Maybe he travelled the world and didn't marry, because of his preference for men. Haha, that would be a riot. I know he was a rebel and a smart man and very relaxed.
I'm a vecoite christian now, by the way. It took me a while, but I've finally seen the light.

Okay. Why do you believe in God (unless you're not trolling just because I didn't join your competition...)?
I'm sorry if it's offensive, but I can't understand why people believe in gods et cetera. It's just beyond me, but I want to understand. And when you ask a religious person "prove God exists" they often say " prove he doesn't exist". By that logic, you can't prove that I am a god, sent to Earth to enlighten people.
Yes. I am Jesus 2.0 And you can't prove that I am not.
Now worship me or go to the Black Void.
And yes, I originally used words like "zomg" in that post to make a nice contrast between funny and seriousness.
I think I am going to try to create a religion some day. Like Buddhism but not so harcore, were we believe in ourselves. Where we are gods (guess what book...).
