Consider keeping the pirate searches at their place and stop stealing someones work, even if for yourself, k?

JJ, for an intelligent man, you trust those laws too much. It's indeed not some kind of divine order. If the law is badly constructed, disobeying it doesn't make you an evil person. Again, Third Reich. What was following their laws good for? Yet they were people who just said "it's the law" and that was all. Blind lawfulness is pointless. From what you are saying, we should respect the law. Fine. But any kind of law, even as stupid as copyright law?

See, that's the mistake you make. IF something IS law, you have to follow it. If you don't like the law, you have to become active to CHANGE the law, not BREAK it.
That's the foundation of all civilized society. Just because you find a law silly or sucky or whatever you can't go and break it. You may find the law silly, that downloading stuff is illegal. I may find the law silly that I cannot use the so called private property of others. Some find the law silly not to kill people. You have to respect existing law, and if you don't like the existing law you have to try and CHANGE IT.
That's not even worth a discussion.

Why do you even bother posting this if all can respond with was already written? I'm not going to repeat myself like a broken record. If there is nothing new to add, don't bother.

JJ: Like, you could change the law in Third Reich? Lol, how? A Jew is coming to your house and begs for help, how can you instantly CHANGE the law? @_o You either obey it and tell him to scram, or break it and protect him. As you said, this isn't even worth a discussion - it's downright ridiculous.

I already explained why. You are free not to agree, but don't post the same thing already said by Binabik, JJ and others - all I can do there is to repeat myself, and we don't want another endless loop of arguments like in "I gave up on believing in God".

What do you expect me to do, agree with you just because you repeated the same "it's thieving" without any arguments at all?

This is really bothersome.

Me: I think that downloading isn't thievery because of X, Y and Z.
Guy 1: it's thievery because of A, B and C
Me: I don't think that's true because of D, E and F
Guy 2: it's thievery
Me: ok, and the arguments?
Guy 2: it just is, you are stealing
Me: I don't think so, because of X, Y and Z
Guy 3: THIEVERY LOL
Me: umm, I don't want to repeat myself...
Guy 4: THIEVERY!
Me: Some arguments perhaps?
Guy 5: LOL U STEALING
Me: <facepalms and quits the thread>

Oh God.

Which law? Do I need to pinpoint the countries in which the law doesn't?

Did you even bother to read what I wrote earlier? About blind law followers, useless laws across history and why laws should be judged by morality, not morality judged by law?

There is even a law that allows British guys to shoot Scots with a bow every sunday near churches. So? If a Scottish guy gets shot down, will you say "so what, LAW SAYS SO?"

Ridiculous.

Ok, I'm really fed up with repeating myself. Until some new counter-arguments, I'm not going to address the same things over and over. DF out.

Because this law is so immoral and invasion of what you can do (without affecting others directly), it should be unconstitutional.

Not to mention unfair. Reason? Well of course we all know the economy would go to **** if not for search engines. After all, the big bucks ARE law. So you're right JJ, if you mean that civilized society means money and power make the rules, yeah.

you sure? even the craptastic law?

Theft = criminal offense.
Copyright infringement = civil offense.

Besides, how do you call if I go and download everything by hacking into your system, then destroying your system. How is that called? Or if I steal your hard drive...

if downloading is theft, this is what? double theft?

Doom, Death and others, so it's okay to

announce that we will publish a pdf of the new (insert a waited for book here) two days after it's been published, for everyone to download for free.

Of course everyone can just make a movie from it - wouldn't sell anyway, since two days after the movie is done you can download it.

You sure you want that?

Man, you DARE comparing the fate of a jew in the Third Reich with your inability to withstand your desire to get as much as possible as cheap as possible and get an absolution for that?
I think, I spit on that one. That's abysmally low.

Absolutely -- no one should pay for copies that are reproduced cheaply. If there has to be payment involved, do it once/funded/pledge/donations/vote/whatever other system.

As always to totally missed the point he made with it. He was talking about the law not being divine or something that has to be followed morally.

Of course you either already knew that and did that post just for kicks, or you do HAVE issues arguing on the internet. Seriously, I know a few other places where that style of arguing is gonna get you banned. Put some damn effort to understand logic, and the context.

I used an extreme cause to illustrate that laws can SUCK and "obeying" or "changing" aren't the only GOOD options, there are times when you HAVE to break it because changing it is not within your reach.

I'm not comparing anything and there is nothing like that in my post. I thought it's like, obvious. I'm really disappointed JJ that a man of your intelligence makes such ridiculous CLAIMS that I compare human lifes to computer games. Seriously man, are you real?

If it's produced cheaply then you SHOULD pay cheaply for EACH cheaply mass produced copy

Nah, you back out. Because there is no connection between the 3rd reich and and downloading, and if someone is disappointed then it's me about some children not able to see that.
You should damn well know that when someone says that
in this situation X is right
you can't counter that by saying
you couldn't do X 70 years ago in a certaon country.

THAT IS RIDICULOUS.

And that Death is chiming in is no wonder - his style of arguing. No logic, no sense, grabbing for everything that mey seem worth a shot. I have to say, that this is getting disgusting. What kind of people are you?

There is a connection, it's called breaking the law at the time.

People who prefer to use arguments and logic instead of calling others disgusting.
