Well well well...
As stated by Mytical, a top-10 playlist for "80's" theme is way too hard to be done, that is why I gave myself a more precise one.
Born in 1981, I'm a product of that decade. And if I should tell what was the most particular point of that period, I immediately would say its visual creativity.
The 80's were a time were everything was technically allowed, and where minds began exploring new horizons, artistically speaking.
Therefore, what I you here is my playlist of: 10 legendary 80's music video.
Be sure to look, not only listen!
1. Queen - I Want to Break Free
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RyIyEyVPvo
Absolute delirium (and delight).
2. Dire Staits - Money for Nothing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTP2RUD_cL0
I'm not fan of DS, but that video was a masterpiece back then. And those flashy colours... pure 80's!
3. Madonna Like a Virgin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlVLAyzxEtI
Cannot speak about 80's and video without mentioning Madonna. Not a fan either, but she definitely put her mark on society. I've chosen that video because it defined the 80's girls fashion.
4. Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK2tWVj6lXw
Pure 80's product. Still nowadays a cult music video.
5. Sabrina - Boys (Summertime Love)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiuHdUkuRi0
Everyone that was young in 1987 will understand why that video is legendary.
6. A-HA - Take on Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EXxMlIExpo
An amazing piece of work, showing an inventiveness that is characteristic of 80's
7. Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhHgNwYVCQ
The most complex music video in history. Record winner of MTV Music Awards. A must-see.
8. Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gszKw78lBgE
Actually, that single was released december 1979, but it really belongs to the 80's. Those huge hammers are part of 80's history.
9. Sting - Russians
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHylQRVN2Qs
Released in 1985, that video not only is a beautiful one, but it also carries a powerful message, along with a beautiful music.
10. Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vgP669dYvk
Perfection reached. Nothing to say.
MJ could populate this very 10-songs list by himself, but I chose only to take one. Smooth Criminal is my preferred video from him.

Quote: I don't knwo wether I will take some coherent theme. It may give bonus points, but it could lack variety...also I NEED to have two german punk rock bands in, when speaking about the eighties, but I don't want that to be the theme. Maybe I'll jsut choose "German 80s" as theme, but yet maybe I wont^^
Don't forget Alphaville !

Alrighty, I'll try and review them in a day or two then. I do have finals, so it might get delayed a little longer, but I'm checking them over, no worries!
Final ruling should hopefully be done for Wednesday or so. Sorry for the delay!

Sorry for the super delay, guys; finals caught up with me more than I expected.
Markkur asked that I not review his list, so after reviewing Mytical and Demonge's here's my decision.
This was a tough one! Great themes on both sides; some awesome power ballads from Mytical and some equally amazing music videos from Demonge (Sledgehammer was amazing!).
Mytical is (barely) the winner; while both lists were great, I felt the theme was a little more coherent for Mytical's, and there's just something awesome about 80s power ballads.
Mytical takes this round!
And Demonge, thank you for reminding me why 80s music videos are awesome.

I am calling this one 'Guilty Pleasures'. 10 songs you would never admit to anybody that you actually enjoy. Who is man (or woman) enough to come clean?

<LOL> Well I didn't tell Swampy what I meant to. "I want to come in third" If I'd had two brain cells working instead of one; you guys wouldn't have known that I bailed I wasn't expecting to win anyway I just wanted to be "sure" I didn't. This stuff is too taxing for me right now and If I had won I would have to go for another round. So much for clandestine subterfuge

I saw that coming. I agree my list wasn't pretty good musically speaking.
Grats Mytical, you deserve the victory.
Count me in for next round!
=================================================
The more I think about it, the more I find it quite immoral to ask us such personal stuff ^^
Never mind, I'll give you the deepest and darkest likes of my mind. And yes, I like all those 10 songs.
I just hope you still will allow me to continue playing
1. Welcome to the black parade My Chemical Romance
2. Crawling Linkin park
3. Naughty girl Beyonce
4. Gangstas Paradise Coolio
5. Let A Boy Cry Gala
6. In your eyes Kylie Minogue
7. Show me love t.A.T.u.
8. Everything Britney Spears
9. Last Christmas Wham!
10. Its not unusual Tom Jones
I know, I know, I know...
Please don't be too rude, I already feel ashamed of some titles I wrote (yet I don't know if I should be ashamed of "It's Not Unusual")
Actually, I really enjoyed that round. It made me listen once again to old songs I love but never listen at (I guess you know why ^^).
PS: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, Michelle Pfeiffer..........

I have two problems:
1 - I somehow don't feel like doing a list often these days.
2: I have no songs that I wouldn't admit^^ I can make this a compilations of songs many peopl edon't understand i like and could be seen embarassing, maybe...
