Well well well.
Sorry for the delay I was busy at work last week.
However, it seems only Jiriki manage to make it in time, so I guess you are the winner for this round...

So I'm the winner? then your next task is to choose a soundtrack for your favorite movie, with the only hindrance you may not choose songs of the actual soundtrack.

Ah so we make a list of 10 songs that we would use on a soundtrack of say Star Wars, but can't be any of the songs in the current soundtrack of Star Wars? (if that is the movie we choose)

@demonge: You remind me I didn't include Yann Tiersen in my last list
...I don'T think you should use the same movie. I would judge by how the songs fit together and to the movie...if you have a concrete scene for a song in mind, you can state it, but I can only judge that if I know th emovie or you can give me a link or a VERY CLEAR AND PRECISE AND DETAILED description of the scene^^

Yet I still find this round hard, so I will need a bit more time than usual.

You can't use - or ' in the link name...fixed it for ya. Links really do not like any of the 'strange' characters. No !, ?, *, &, etc.

Sooooooooo... Here is my proposition.
I think it is a very interesting exercise you asked us, Jiriki, and I must say I am quite proud of my ideas.
Of course it always depends on one's musical library to have the perfectly fitting songs. Anyway, here is:
The Lion King: VERY Special Edition Soundtrack
Based upon the Special Edition Original Soundtrack that can be found on deezer.
To start with, The Lion King is and will always be my favourite movie.
Below are my 10 songs, that I put chronologically (movie-time).
For each, you got the original song to compare with (the tracklist is not chronological on deezer, where you got songs first then instrumentals), then the explanation, then the selected new song itself.
Note I replaced instrumentals by instrumentals and songs by songs (except for the last one), meaning the lyrics are part of the choices too.
* Circle of Life (1)
Title song, it opens the movie with the african lyrics. I quickly made my choice upon Johnny Clegg the White Zulu, and chose that song for its theme is quite similar to 'circle of life', the chorus 'Utshani Obulele Buvuswa Wumlilo' meaning 'The dry dead grass is made young and green by fire'
Utshani Obulele - Johnny Clegg
* This Land (7)
This instrumental occurs while Simba and Mufasa are on top of Pride Rock. Mufasa says 'Everything the light touches is our kingdom' thing. It's a peaceful, calm and optimistic music, with a quick ending.
Life in Technicolor - Coldplay
* I Just Can’t Wait to be King (2)
That song is about the eagerness of a greedy boy. I easily found out which song would fit (with a chorus as easy to remember ^^).
I Want It All - Queen
* Hyenas
(That instrumental is not in the english version of the OST on deezer but is on the french one if you want a listen)
The hyenas music, heard specially during the elephant graveyard scene and the following pursuit. Not an easy one to find cause it's a bit frightening theme with a quick ending reminding the chase.
Inhaler - Craig Armstrong
* Be Prepared (3)
Scar's song about his putsch, in front of his hyenas' army. Easy (listen to the lyrics).
Uprising - Muse
* ...To Die For (8)
That instrumental is the one of the stampede scene, ending by Mufasa's death. Reminding the rush of a frightened horde, the rythm is high, without break. (By the way, I really love the following)
Woodpecker From Mars - Faith No More
* Hakuna Matata (4)
Had to find a 'happy-go-lucky' song, light but a bit evasive, with a strong beat yet. After some time, I ended with a draw. It could have been Bon Jovi's 'It's my Life', but it's not. Opus' Lyrics fit better I think.
Live is Life - Opus
* Can You Feel the Love Tonight (5)
HA, the love song. Two hearts meet after several years, but love is still there, and they only want to spend time alone, nothing else.
Just the Two of Us - Bill Withers
* Under the Stars (9)
The hardest one, mainly because it has three parts. After his set-to with Nala, Simba walks alone under the stars. He then is visited by Rafiki (the monkey) who teaches him the 'Remember who you are' thing ('he lives in you', etc.). After that, Simba decides to return to Pride Rock and runs (quick ending, movie main theme).
All that being instrumental I couldn't find something perfectly fitting. I set my choice on that piece because of its gradation, similar to the original music.
L’Absente - Yann Tiersen
* King of Pride Rock (10)
That song is a story by itself. It starts with Simba discovering wastelands Pride Rock has become. Then it tells his fight with Scar. Finally, it is a glory hymn about victory and the king's return. I really like that instrumental.
For that one, I have chosen a song with lyrics, because it however really fits the story to me. The structure is quite the same, and the lyrics are about fights and revolution. Hope you like it too.
The Knife - Genesis
And here we finally are.
I'm not sure it was worth the time I spent on it, but I repeat the work was really interesting.
I only hope you'll take the time to listen and compare carefully

@demonge...are you still there...I will try to make a list in the next couple of days...
EDIT: like...now^^
I take ..."The Lord of the Rings":
First, a must have, as theme song, if you wish so:
Blind Guardian ~ Lord of the Rings
ASP ~ Besessen
As Theme for the Ring and the Temptation coming from it - "Besessen" means "possessed". In the movie/s, instrumental variations of this song would occur on scenes as Gandalf telling the dark parts of the ring story, many appereances of the Nazgûl (weathertop attack, the assault at the ford), Mount Doom, Boromir wanting the Ring, etc.
Evan Rachel Wood - Blackbird
As Theme for the softer scenes with Eowyn, and fitting to some other scenes as well...lorien...rivendell...some scenes of return of the king as well...all scenes which incline moments of softness inside the tides of war.
Fiddlers Green - Market Day
For bilbo's party and the feasts in Rohan, I think a set of some folky songs would be just fine. THis is jsut a fine example, similar songs would be there
Hammefall - Hearts on Fire
Not much to say, a wonderful song for war and battle, of which LotR has plenty
National Water=> Anduin?
Sth by Billy Talent? Devil in a Midnight Mass? Red Flag=>War?
maybe CCR with Bad Moon Rising?
Crüxshadows, Winterborn?
Disturbed?
btw, I wont take it in but don't ypu think, too, that "the passenger" fits to gandalf quite well?!
Work in progress
