Quote: That seems to be a common misconception. There are several comments at Youtube saying the same thing. However the song was by Fraternity of Man. Country Joe never did the song, not even as a cover. The song was not played at Woodstock. Country Joe's most well known song at Woodstock was the fish cheer/Vietnam rag. (I think that's the only one of his songs on the original Woodstock album and the movie)
That is exactly what I am remembering. Now anyway. Had forgot about the famous cheer. Sorry about the error.
Edit= Thought I would put up my sorta top 10 since I posted.
1. In the Hall of the Mountain King - Wolf Hoffman
(New definition for a Rock Classic)
2. Sons of Somerled - Steve McDonald
(About a Viking's Clan)
3. Lady of the Lake - StarCastle
(Yes wannabe but a good tune)
4. No Time to Lose - Tarney-Spenser
(One hit wonder)
5. Mummer's Dance - Loreena McKinnit
(She's in a league of her own)
6. Darkness Darkness - Ian Matthews
(Music was cutting edge at the time)
7. And You and I - Yes
(Wakeman and Yes at their best)
8. Runnin Down a Dream - Tom Petty
(My Survival Anthem)
9. The Wizard - Uriah Heep
(Gandalf shares wine)
10. Highway Star(Live)- Deep Purple
(Full Tilt Boogie)
Make a great day

@markkur? Are you participating?^^ "The Wizard" isn't such a song about happiness, for me, but of course, you can feel different

Participating? Nope, not past my adding ten songs for folks to google, since I contaminated the thread with an error
However, 'The Wizard' IS a happy song for me.

I assumed 'participating' means doing the link thing for all the songs etc. I thought I saw an error and it turned out the error was MINE. So as a fineI added 10 songs that may be new to yonger posters. A few are rather obscure these days. Kinda like myself.
My time on-line is limited due to a back that does not like me.

Participating means that you not just post 10 songs you like, but participate in the leger "competition" we have here, with thematic rounds, like this round "happy hour". I wondered because your playlist didn't seem too happy for me, but of course that's just my first opinion, wpuld have to listen through.
I am ready with my list now, btw.

OK, I'm with you now, sorry, a little slow on the uptake.
So If I do participate do I have to provide links for each song? That's too much for me...unfortunately in my present health. I am quite eaten-up with arthritic-bone-toaster-disease. My name is as good as what the Doctors call it.
Just in case I don't have to provides links.
Happy Songs countdown to number one
10 Guitarzan - Ray Stevens?
9. Rocky Mountian High - John Denver
8. Easy Livin - Uriah Heep
7. You are the Sunshine of my Life - Stevie Wonder
6. With a little help from my friends - Beatles
5. Feeling stronger everday - Chicago
4. Let your Love flow - Bellamy Brothers
3. ROCK in the USA - John Mellencamp
2. I Want to bang the drum all day Todd Rundgren
1. Rock This Place - Fabulous Thunderbirds

It would be appreciated if you gave links. Without, there is no guarantee we can judge it. But I, for one, am nevertheless happy to welcome you in. Yet (oh man, i'm so full of critics today...sorry!!!) this is more bout havign a playlist instead of a top ten, so you may think over the order, if you want. This wa, if you want, you can group similar music, or try to create a suspense curve, or something liek that...

Jiriki9, I am limited to HoMM subject matter and normal e-mail, because of wicked pain. Like right now. I am sorry to have posted the error about CJ and the Fish. I put the ten songs up as a fine(Humor) as payment for the error. I did not understand exactly what you guys were doing because I saw the 'links' and knew I could not do this right now, so I did not read what you were actually doing with the songs. Sorry again. I would have just deleted my error post but I didn't see how I could do it.
My top-ten would be my playlist...if I wanted to hear happy music played as a theme for the day.
I know you are busy so don't respond to this, it was just a screw-up on my part.

Quote: I MIGHT take over again, if I may...but nto if anyone else is willing and capable of judging.
What about "winner's keeper"?
Not saying I don't want you being judge but:
- it may be boring to you to judge every round
- it will somehow build the excitment during each turn
- it hopefully might make new players wanna enter the contest
What do you think?
The winner of round N could choose round N+1 theme and judge.
PS: sorry, on my iPhone I couldn't manage to edit previous post.

Okay, time to close out this round.
Jiriki's Mix
BobbyMcFerrin - Dont Worry
I agree, perfect opener
Jim Sturgess - Ive just seen a face (Across the Universe Soundtrack)
nice cover, too bad the movie was so flaky
Blink182 - Feeling This
gah, this band is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Fiddlers Green - The Night Pat Murphy died
lol, awesome choice
FArin Urlaub - Glücklich
kind of an odd song, a nice style change
Wenn ich vergnügt bin muss ich singen
happy happy, I don't think there was a single minor chord in the entire thing
Beethoven - Ode an die Freude (in 9.Symphony)
nice song, hmmm, don't know about the recording though.
Louis Armstrong - What a wonderfull world
excellent choice
Die Toten Hosen - Bis zum bitteren Ende
lol
Always look on the bright side of life
lol again
Final Analysis: Nice variety, good music, great set!
Markkur's Mix
Guitarzan - Ray Stevens?
a fun start
Rocky Mountian High - John Denver
a nice happy song, good pick
Easy Livin - Uriah Heep
errr, interesting change of pace
You are the Sunshine of my Life - Stevie Wonder
excellent choice
With a little help from my friends - Beatles
good song
Feeling stronger everday - Chicago
nice song, this mix has a real 70's vibe to it
Let your Love flow - Bellamy Brothers
ROCK in the USA - John Mellencamp
a nice upbeat song
I Want to bang the drum all day Todd Rundgren
heheh fun song, perfect for a "Happy Hour" mix
Rock This Place - Fabulous Thunderbirds
good song
Final Analysis: A good mix though a little heavy on the rock
Demonge's Mix
hakuna matata - Lion King
a fun start
Oh Happy Day - popular
deezer doesn't work for me btw, and there's a dozen different songs named "Oh Happy Day" on youtube. Are you talking about the gospel song?
I think I'll judge it on this Elvis Presley one
I Want you back - Jackson 5
great song, and some nice R&B flavor in the mix
Mahna mahna - sesame street
lol, nice pick
Here's a hilarious vid with that song.
happy days - arnold's band (here)
hmmm, couldn't find this one on youtube
you are my sunshine - popular
ahhh, another great song, here's a great version by Elizabeth Mitchell
Island in the sun - Weezer
nice song, easy vibe
Copacabana - Barry Manilow
great addition to the mix
it's a small world - Disney's cursed song
ahhh! curses!
Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful world - IZ Kamakawiwo'ole
a nice closer
Final Analysis: A superb mix with good variety. Most of all its perfectly happy.
So for this round I'd have to pick Demonge's narrowly over Jiriki's, with Markkur's in third place.
Demonge, if you want to start a round and judge it go ahead.

Grats Demonge Go on if you wish...btw we did it quite some time before that the one who set the round also posted a list if they wished (I think you did, fog?! Or am I having memory-hallucinations? O.o) and the others could judge that or at least give their opinion

Gee, that's a nice way to enter a competition to win a turn!
So Jiriki are you ok with a winner's keeper mode?
I don't mind you being the MC!
And will you FoG continue playing? do you stop judging or also give lists?
For what I know, we now are Jiriki and I playing, + binabik (but last round), and maybe FoG, is that it?
If we are enough players, maybe we can use another judging mode:
The winner could choose a theme, and at the end of the turn, everyone who posted a list vote for its preferred one (not allowed voting for yourself) and the winner is the one with most vote.
Could it work?
About my list:
Sorry Fog for deezer inconvenience, I asked the question once but had no return so I assumed it was ok.
The Happy Days song is nothing but the TV show song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMxkMy9JvXI
And yes by Oh Happy Day I meant the gospel song.

As i said, I'm fine with it!
For the all judging thing...we are a bit few players by now...maybe we could PN old contestants, like mytical, who skipped the last round because of the theme, if I remember correctly, and ask them if they want to return!?
Anyway, start right away, give us a task (also, it doesn't have to be a theme in closer sense...having opened this thread I also had in mind things like genre-bound playlists and such...once fog gave us a task to make a playlist aroudn one instrument of choice...one could even make a playlist around a picture). But don't feel pressed to such!!! just wanted to make it clear you are very free on what you do there, as logn as we can make a playlist of it!

Well then, next round's rule is: each song must contain 2 language in their lyrics.
Choose of language is free.
It can be only a few sentences.
Yet such expressions as 'carpe diem' or 'rendez-vous' do not count.
Good luck!
