And on page 21, I wrote such a beautiful (to be taken with a grain of salt) poem when explaining why we don't need the godesses anymore. Apparently, you people don't want to take control in your own hands and keep begging the godesses for it.

Remember, I will still assist anyone who is willing to oppose their tyranny.

a tyranny?

Definition of tyranny
Tyranny is usually thought of as cruel and oppressive, and it often is, but the original definition of the term was rule by persons who lack legitimacy, whether they be malign or benevolent. Historically, benign tyrannies have tended to be insecure, and to try to maintain their power by becoming increasingly oppressive. Therefore, rule that initially seems benign is inherently dangerous, and the only security is to maintain legitimacy — an unbroken accountability to the people through the framework of a written constitution that provides for election of key officials and the division of powers among branches and officials in a way that avoids concentration of powers in the hands of a few persons who might then abuse those powers.

The emergence of tyranny begins with challenges to a group, develops into general feelings of insecurity and inadequacy, and falls into a pattern in which some individuals assume the role of "father" to the others, who willingly submit to becoming dependent "children" of such persons if only they are reassured that a more favorable outcome will be realized. This pattern of co-dependency is pathological, and generally results in decisionmaking of poor quality that makes the situation even worse, but, because the pattern is pathological, instead of abandoning it, the co-dependents repeat their inappropriate behavior to produce a vicious spiral that, if not interrupted, can lead to total breakdown of the group and the worst of the available outcomes. AKA controlfreak syndrome

Whew..that was a mouthfull

Yes, Romana, your definition is sound, and points out a couple of flaws in Marelt's repeated admonishments to the constituency.

First of all Marelt, nobody's oppressing you into being here.  Like I said, thou art free to leave this Temple at any time.  So why do you keep hanging around, unless you are suffering from some repressed desire to remain involved?  If anybody's oppressing you, it's you, dude.

Second, as Romey's well-developed definition points out, Tyranny is typicaly a PATRIARCHAL (e.g. MALE) phenomenon.  In case you haven't noticed, we're women.  There have been a tiny handful of Matriarchies in human history that have borne the earmarks of Tyranny.  Women do not typically engage in the same type of control-oriented behaviors that men do.  And don't get me started on Catherine the Great or you'll regret it.  I know more about her than you know about your own mother.

This is just and invitation to one big voluntary orgy.  The whole reason for the Temple is to provide some balance to this otherwise male-dominated Land; a refuge where the men can come to be nurtured in the company of the Goddesses, to find a female "touch" as it were.  We are not of the feminist generation that strove to become like men.  We are of the feminist generation that revels in our womanhood, in the things that make us different than men.  Controlling our surroundings only comes about in the decorative sense, lad.  But this does not mean we lack a sense of boundaries.  It means we choose to make our environment as we would, and invite anyone who wishes to join us to do so.  But IF you choose to remain here, don't cross those boundaries or you will suffer the consequences.

Personally, I find your relentless whining and complaining about us highly suspicious. So... as Alfred E. Newmann would say, don't go away mad, Marelt, just go away.  And watchit, cause you're starting to chap me.  If you don't back off I'll call upon Djive from the land beyond to teach me how to turn you into a toad.  Or maybe Cat, in her infinitely wise playfulness, will slap a collar on you and really give you a lesson in what oppression is all about.

One more thing -- note the signature.  In case you haven't noticed, it holds particularly true TODAY.  You really do NOT want to see me pi$$ed.

All I was saying is that people should take control in their own hands and not let the goddesses do it for them. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they are female. A tyrant was originally just the definition of a person with absolute powers. Only later, the word got a more negative sound to it. Personally, I was thinking of a combination between the old and new meaning. The godesses demand worship and no challenge to their rule. Not to mention the virgin sacrifices.

In order to enforce their rule, they zap people into toads, lock them into dungeons and threaten to take away the pleasures that you do not even have a right to in the first place. All I was doing was trying to help the people in finding their own pleasures and make them capable of looking after themselves. I think that this is their right and no godess should interfere in it.

And look what happens! People kick me, call me the devil and threaten me with severe physical violence. All to let the godesses keep their powers at all cost. That would fit in my understanding of a tyranny. I'm now going to step on very thin ice and drag the earlier argument with it. Men have been in power for so long because they were physically stronger when mankind first started to use the "leader and follower" system. Once they had power, the men did not give it up, which is why history, and even today, politics and world affairs have always been dominated by males. My honest opinion is that females are not a hair better than males and will use the same methods of oppresion if they would ever get into a position of absolute power. If females were the dominant force on this earth, males would be suppressed just as badly.

Therefore, my standpoint remains. Down with the temple! The people on earth need to decide for themselves and not always be content with the scraps that the higher powers drop from the table.

P.S. How were you planning to shoot a spirit with a handgun?

"the Keeper walks out of the swimming pool atrium and enters the room where the Godesses argue with the spirit"

...nobody forced you to be here ...if you want to go outside the power radius of the Godesses, you have but to step outside the Temple grounds... your yelling and whining actually passes through the portals all the way to the Be'ati Tempus... and we are having a party there... keep it quiet, ok?

...of course all the ladies are invited to join the party...

You know Marelt, I'm not feeling the love in this temple.  There is supposed to be love.  WHERE'S THE LOVE?  Now why don't you leave the temple for a while and "try" to steal some poor spammer's soul from us.  K?

Of course there is no love here. There is just the false pretence of love to keep the people under suppression in blissful ignorance. People need to find their own love and not beg godesses for it.

Seeing as no one will join my crusade, I will tactically retreat from the temple for some time. But one day, I will return and renew my offer to help anyone who wishes to free the world of this suppression.
