"Ah well, there's no need to be upset, those weren't my terms" sighed a defeated Francis "If you manage to pull that off in plate armour I'll offer a round to the company in a tavern if Dragomir allows me to. Also, good job, and congratulations for the victory".
Francis took the defeat almost like a sportsman, in fact he was still a bit bitter because of the water...
"Well fought..." He offered an handshake to Elena.

- We'll save that offer for another day.- Dragomir said, replying to the offer Francis made.
- Well, I guess I'll go against Isabella then- He said. Dragomir picked up the sparring blade and spun it. He then rested it onthe side on the wagon, and took off his coat and armor. He then picked up the training weapon, spun it again, and assumed a fighting stance.
- I expect you won't go easy on me, just because I'm the captain of the company- He said to Isabella.
Meanwhile, on Halfman's wagon, the tiny wizard worked to determine what was the enchant on the amethyst pendant which was given to him by Francis. The wizard initially used several simple incantations. it did worked. the piece of jewelry engulfed the wearer in a protective field of energy. Halfman guessed that it was used for protection against weapon blows. the pendant did had a downside however. the effect would pop up at random, without the user's consent. He guessed that it was made by the apprentice artificiers aspiring to become accepted into the ranks of Amat Clan.
The wizard decided to conduct a few more experiment's before returning the piece of jewelry to Francis.

((sorry for the late reply. having apprentices in RL can be a pain in the arse))
Dragomir attacked. His intitial lunge to the chest was parried. Isabella quickly counterattacked by a quick paced slashes and thrusts. Drago was able to fend off most of them, but one managed to slip and hit him in the leg. He retaliated, but his chops and thrusts were met with equal blocking. eventually ha managed to land two hits on Isabella, and equally received a one was well. The last few clashes were almost brutal, but eventually Dragomir let his guard down, and was hit on the side. Isabella won the duel.
Dragomir brushed the sweat away from his forehead.
- Well fought.- He said to Isabella.- Very well. Allikha, Elena and Isabella will duke it out. every one for itself. winner get's the forint, or 100 talars. Sorry to keep you out John, but you know we don't have a sparring blade big enough for you.- He said with a guilty smile.
It seemed Mikolaj was very curious about John. even though He saw a man of such stature for the first time, he wasn't afraid or uncomfortable to be near him.
- You're a tall one ser- He said, trying to be polite.- Are you of giant blood?

- Oh yes.. it's fine. I just... never saw one... nor a true giant nor a half one- Mikolaj seemed to look for words.
- Don't worry your head about it- Drago said.- John's good people, even if some outside of our circle are intimidated by his size. I forgot to mention, Mikolaj is the half-brother of Kristoph The Thunder. Since he's not able to inherit any position in the House Raddwil, he decided to follow in his brother's steps. Don't worry, we'll make a capable warrior out of you yet.- He smiled.
Dragomir began to stuff his pipe.
- Say how about I treat you fellas here to a nice crayfish dinner at "Dragon's Rest" once we're done here?- Dragomir hoped to pick up any worthwile rumors while they're at it. He guessed that Zet was also doing that along any other activities he partook today.

So John is out. That forint is as good as mine then. "A fulfilling Dinner seems nice" Elena said, stretching out a bit in preparation of the coming battle. 3-way. Caution will win. keep them on the same side and have them take out each other. Stay in the fight so they don't realize that and i should be fine. Once one is out i should have this she planned out in her head. This was certainly going to be fun.

Francis was amused at the prospect of a multiple duel, as he never contemplated the idea when he was younger, but there was a more pressing matter, and Dragomir's offer opened a chance that would rarely present itself again.
"My lord..." Francis began "I was invited to a banquet by some young local noblemen, if you allow me I'd prefer to go there for dinner, if you don't require my presence of course..."
Francis hoped the captain would let him go, he desired an occasion to return to his roots for a moment, and the fact that he was invited would have made him embarrassed to not show up, even if he told the young men he probably wouldn't have come.

Magnus forged out the rough shape of the helmet's skullcap by now. He was now making it into a more refined shape. The owner of the blacksmith's shop was impressed by the speed that Magnus had worked. but he had his own order to fulfill, and had no time to appreciate the fine work of a Dwarven smith.

(I dislike roleplaying other's characters but I hope this is sufficient.)
Isabella tried to rush Elena but Elena briskly dodged and clipped Isabella on the shoulder. Allikha then engaged Isabella and after a few parried attacks managed to land a blow on her leg. Isabella counter attacked Allikha and managed to get a hit on him, but he quickly struck back hitting her on the arm and knocking her out of the melee. Allikha then attacked Elena who managed to dodge most of his blows save one which hit her on the arm. She quickly recovered though hitting the orc on the leg, and after a few more traded blows landed another on his arm knocking him out and winning the contest.

- Well fought- Dragomir said. He went to his wagon for a while, and counted off a 100 talars from the company's treasury. He placed them in a coinpurse, and returned to the company. He tossed the coin purse to Elena.
- Don't spend it all at one place- He said. As promised, Dragomir treated his comrades to a dinner at "Dragon's Rest", while Francis went off to the feast he was invited to.
The tavern was packed full, as a bard was performing in it as well.
After a nice dinner which come with the additional entertainment the group had returned to camp.
Dragomir didn't picked up anything worthwile while being at the establishment. He hoped that Zet, whereever he was, would fared better.
most of the other mercenaries were back, some been playing cards, other's showed what they bought at the market to their friends, and they found Magnus as well. He appeared to be waiting for something. Or someone.
- Oy, there ye be fellas. John,-It was probably the first time that Magnus addressed someone else other than Drago by name.- I need ye to get yer club and come with me. the forge is heated up, and I managed to persuade the owner to let me work through the night.

John went to take his club and found Portel sitting by the half-giant's stuff with a big basket beside him.
"Where in the name of all the gods and their basterd sons have you been, you overgrown ball of hair?! I brought you the best food I could get in this place, just like you asked, and you just up and vanish! Any other time I might have been impressed - you don't see something so big disappear very often, but right now I'd rather stab you in the kneecaps!"
"Ohhhhh... ummmm... I-errrr... look, I ended up going to a tavern with a couple of others and I... I kind of forgot about you bringing me food..."
"Forgot? FORGOT?! You forgot about the food I handpicked for you in favor of some tavern grub? That's the last time I do you a favor, you hear me?"
"Look, Portel, I apologize. And I really need to go now, but I tell you this, why don't you eat my food instead? It's good food, you should know - you picked it. And you always have a room for another helping. And the best part is - it's already paid for with my money."
"Weeelll... I do want another piece of that beef... alright, I'll let you go easy this time, but only because I'm such a gentleman."
Portel was anything but a gentleman, but he always dreamed of being one and tried to imitate the way nobles speak and move. And it was all fine and dandy until Francis showed up in the Brotherhood one day, radiating real nobility and putting Portel's efforts to shame.
"Thank you, Portel, I want forget it."
John took his club and walked back to Magnus at high speed.

- Ogres?- Drago was surprised. There brutes usually did not go this far south, they usually stayed around the Steelwall, most often trying to attack dwarven trade caravans or raid towns in the mountain foothills. There was something odd in this.
- What can those brutes do so far south?- Any more information on this? how big is their band? who's their leader?

Magnus led John to the smithy. Before he left to get the Half Giant, he made sure to hide the pieces of the unfinished helmet out of sight.
- Your job is gonna be easy. I need someone strong to hold yer mace so I can work on it. The lads should already finished the last touches on the metal, I just need to secure it onto yer mace with rivets.- For reinforcing John's club, Magnus decided to turn it into a half giant sized version of a so called Holy Water Sprinkler.

- It is nice meeting you my lady- Mikolaj addressed Isabella. You could tell that the young man was a bit uncomfortable with the new change in life. Drago gestured them to sit by, He offered each a mug of stout.
- Getting rid of those rampant ogres would come in with a bit of coin, which House Raddwil no doubt offered for their removal. But before we embark on that errand, We need to know more. Seein as we're low in numbers, it wouldn't be wise to charge in against a company of ogres. Do you have any more to tell us on this Zet?

Francis went to the banquet, hosted at a noble's city house, the exterior of the building radiated the might and power of the nobles that resided there, the facade was a work of fine craftsmanship of marble and granite draped in banners of black and yellow stripes, with the red head of a bull at the center, Francis approached the page at the door and asked to be announced, when they heard his name his new friends greeted him with joy, as they actually didn't think he would come.
"My dearest lords, Stanislav and Lazslo, 'tis a pleasure to meet you again", said Francis, the first responded "Sir Francis, it's an honour to have your presence during this special day".
The hall was full of nobles from around the territory, minor nobles, lords of the land and vassals at court, invited for the debut of Stanislav's sister in society, the occasion was great for many lower nobles to climb the social ladder, and for major nobles to have a strong ally.
Francis talked a lot with his friends, and learned about the uses of the nobility of Navgrod, tasted the various traditional dishes and listened to their music, Francis was utmost impressed by their particular way of timing the notes, and proposed to himself to try it when he had a chance.
The peak of the feast was when the lady arrived, Francis, was amazed at the beauty of such a fine lady and was asked by Stanislav to present himself, and entertain her and the crowd with his story, as she too heard of him as many other in that hall did, and would have liked to hear the story from the protagonist himself; Francis, honoured to be offered such an occasion, obliged.
Stanislav then ordered his serfs to bring him to a central place to tell his story and to make silence in the room.
As Francis told his story he saw that some wept while others were surprised at how the events unfolded, when he ended the story there was a huge applause, and everybody in the room was in the end happy to hear that story, at the exception of one weeping old lady...
She then proceeded to walk through the crowd, as Francis was receiving compliments from all around his friends, when the lady reached him Francis' face turned pale, he greeted her, and asked her to fake that she knew him just for fame, and that they would talk later.
The feast was a huge success and when the time came to leave Francis promised his friends that he would find a way to hear from them again.
After he left he was approached again by this old lady, "So, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be at the south, with my family?" Francis asked, the lady was actually Francis' aunt and was surprised as he was, and responded "My nephew, are you asking me why I'm here, I should be asking you that same question",
"Dear aunt Alexandra, I know, I deserted my duties, but I had to, my father was forcing me to do something that I couldn't possibly bear for my life, I've had a strange feeling all my youth regarding my marriage and I couldn't bring myself to fulfill my duty as the heir",
"Don't you understand what you've done? After you left your father was struck by a severe depression, your brothers started acting strangely, and your fiancee fled to search for you when she understood you wouldn't return again",
"She did what!? Aunt Alexandra, this is unbelievable, my father didn't think twice before sending me off and my brothers were incredibly disappointed in me when I had to go, are you sure you aren't mistaking yourself? His depression may come instead by his obsession with money, you know how recently things have been falling to pieces, so I wouldn't be surprised if actually it was because of a severe decrease in incomes",
"You are as stupid as you were back home, they are all worried sick about you, they fear you died, and your "father in-law" is continuously blaming us for the escape of his daughter, and maybe for her death too...",
"I can't return Auntie, I now have a mission to fulfill, and I have a new allegiance, as long as my heart beats I can't leave my new brethren",
"Fine then, I will tell your father where you are, maybe he could make you return to your senses",
"Are you threatening me? Good luck finding me, I won't be here for long..." With these words Francis left for the camp with an heavy heart, fearing for what would come next...

Elena Just sat silently and listened. Ogres. Great. Just what i needed. Can't we ever get to a town without some major problem with it? Guess I'll just complete some crackers. Should be easy scaring such simple-minded beings.
