Yeah sure. It's the best from both worlds. Freedom and planning of heroes 6 and variety and flavour of heroes 5. So many choices and classes feel way more different then in other games. But hey I enjoyed heroes 6 as well as 4 and I consider heroes 3 to be vastly overrated although good game, so your mileage can vary.

Sometimes, more variety doesn't mean better. I prefer a game simple, fast and direct, like HoMM3 than others with more variety but slower and with desproportionate high requeriment with a field of bugs and many imbalances.
In my opinion if you ask the fans what they want for Heroes games, they will answer: more factions like 9, speed instead come old person waiting AI, play on any PC instead high requirements for graphics, etc.
We need a new Heroes game for replace HoMM3 but for the moment no exist, and MMHVII will not be the replace.

What you said is exactly what the problem with heroes fanbase is - it's diversity.
We have people like you and then hundreds on the blog who want even more skills, even more choices and ever more complexity.
I am a fan as well. And no I don't want nine factions - to me it's better to have 6 factions but really diverse ones, more so like in Heroes 6 - with many abilities and such. Heroes 7 factions differ too so I'm happy in that regard.
And no, I don't want lower requirements - that's not why I own a gaming PC. If anything I want better graphics and even higher requirements - obviously I do care about the graphics- it's 2015 and the graphics can be breathtakingly amazing even in strategy games. I would play chess or paper toys but see I want to see and feel diverse spell effects and control 3d rendered mythical creatures not bunch of pixels

What they should have done is just show the skillwheel as it is, but then with only the available random choices highlighted. All the other skills and perks darkened out, but still available for mouse-over and such, so the player can read their descriptions.

Who people not want many factions? Do you prefer 2 factions like MMHO? I prefer many factions, with many creatures.
Many abilities create more complex and confuse, like Might and Magic Heroes VI, and the result is in this MM Heroes VII has less abilities.
This is a strategy game and not AAA game, but cost for player like was. There are many examples of sucessful modern games with low quality graphics but can run on any pc. In others words, the game can reach to all computers, and sell better. Like your way the game will not sell thanks to high requirements, and i remember the people who buy Heroes is small compared with other titles, very small. Focus in MM Heroes VII, the graphics are bad comparing with others Heroes and the perfomance is even lower. Do you like this?
But i just understand all with your comments, you prefer games like The Order 1886 better than Pillars of Eternity because the first has better graphics. In my village this has a name and i dont want my favourite saga turn in to a nest.

I do get that and even agree, the problem is that the system requirements seems abnormally high according to delivered graphics.
IMO currently looks like a browser game. This is optimization problem.

Well I quite like Heroes 7 graphics especially on the screenshots lol.
THe Order 1886 is not on PC unfortunately and yes I tried to play PoE and quite liked it at the start but the graphics and comfortability killed it for me. Say what you will but I find it more enjoyable replaying Dragon Age then playing PoE.
And your logic about low-end PCs is flawed. It is like owning PS1 and expecting new games to be playable on it! The Witcher 3 must be such a bestseller because it runs on PC's off all ranges right!!
Galaad,

THIS I can agree with. By my hope in that regard that the game is truly WiP and subjects to improvements and changes.. As unlikely as it sounds given release in 3 months..

Yes sorry if I hurt your feelings but I do get slightly upset whenever any game(and especially a game with a nice premise and visual style) get a console-only release.
P.s. Not really sorry.

I like unique creatures with unique abilities, but I also want to be able to know what the heck is going on in a game without having to read up on every unit before every battle. And I really don't want to accidentally screw up my whole battle because I did't know unit A could do cast fireball instead of attacking.
Maybe I'm getting old but I'm not sure if there is room in my head for memorizing 100 units and 100 unique abilities.
As it is I have a hard time knowing who is a ranged unit and a melee without attacking and then right clicking on the unit.
6 factions is probably best, 2 evil, 2 good and 2 neutral.

In VCMI it's made best way - all skills of creature are drawn in creature window (with icons if available). In SOD there was only brief text made by creators of game, not mentioning all abilities like FLYING, KING1 etc.

How have the resources been in Beta? I haven't seen much feedback on it, and I'm curious if resources are a highly valuable, moderately valuable, or an after-thought. I personally like the resource need in homm3 and homm2, while thinking homm5 they weren't quite valuable enough.

Apparently, the magic system is not that bad ... except just 1 spell on top tier which either fits the hero or not, that can break the game (for magic hero). But - you're supposed to learn spells from captured cities, anyway. At least, that's the rule for the larger H3 maps.
It would be interesting whether magic and might hero are competitive with each other in H7, in a typical game. This was not always the case.
Resource costs low: that has to be fixed. Building cities and hiring troops should not be possible without expanding. At least, on normal difficulty.
Decreasing all costs for a player could be a way to implement an 'easy' mode, better than just higher starting resources?

Has anyone else experienced more bugs in the beta today? I entered to play a bit and the game froze twice during battles, as in i couldn't target the last standing unit or i won and it wouldn't leave the battle map to progress the game.
I also experienced slow downs and responsiveness of the mouse...

I also prefer less factions that are different from one another over many similar factions. Too bad there is only 6 in this game AND they're pretty similar. Repeated skills and repeated line ups.....

Well this is my first post around here (long time lurker). My biggest issue with the beta has been not being able to look at heroes abilities and class. So i wrote them down, hopefully it's useful for you guys (or more probably, it's already on the forums somewhere).
Specially since there are a lot of them (which is good imo!)
Haven
Amilcar - Magic - Priest - Tactician (Novice leadership and tactics)
Ella - Magic - Priest - Enlightened (+10% xp)
Orna - Magic - Confessor - Heal adept (Novice Light magic + Heal)
Krystoff - Magic - Inquisitor - Spellweaver (+4 magic)
Wilhelm - Magic - Inquisitor - Fire bolt adept
Edric - Might - Vindicator - Beast tamer (100% wolves/week)
Serguei - Might - Vindicator - Gladiator (+4 might)
Melisande - Might - Knight - Explorer (Novice Exploration + Native terrain)
Tyris - Might - Paladin - Cavalry officer (100% weekly cavaliers)
Ymoril - Might - Paladin - Justicar captain (100% weekly guardians)
Academy
Aali - Might - Alchemist - Blizzard adept (novice water)
Masfar - Might - Alchemist - Father of golems (???% to golems)
Asad - Might - Blademage - Rakshasa officer (100% weekly raksasha)
Gloria - Might - Blademage - Disciple of fire (+6 magic fire)
Saabira - Might - Sherif - Cabir leader (100% weekly cabirs)
Johari - Magic - Battlemage - Artillery master (starts with warfare unit and novice rank)
Theodorus - Magic - Battlemage - Apprentice trainer (100% weekly apprentices)
Minasli - Magic - Wizard - Disciple of water (+6 magic water)
Yasir - Magic - Wizard - Delver of the royal purse (250 gold/day)
Myrim - Magic - Enchanter - Protector (Novice defense + town protector)
I hope you find it useful. I am certainly loving Gloria with Academy
Cheers.

Agreed, there should be at least 16 (8+8) heroes for each faction, two per player in a 8 player map if all chose the same faction.
Although a Hero builder would be nice too, who cares about the back story?
