Giving a second chance to the game - Yay or nay?
So... After what can be described as a 'while', I decided to give the game a second chance, by reinstalling it and playing. In fact, I'm downloading it right now.
Is this what they call false hope?
What do you think has a chance of making me go back on my decision? I did note from before that there are many shortcomings in this game - per say, the absence of a tutorial -, but I think that, at least, most of them would have been solved by now.
[Warning: The following text-block has personal tastes and experience, something some people may find unnecessary to read. If you are one of these people, feel encouraged to skip ahead.]
For instance, I did give a second chance to MMH 6, and it quickly found a place in my heart as a good game. Well, I did have to deal with quite a bit of trouble, such as occasional black-screens at the start of some battles, and other stuff because of the game not being able to cope with high FPS(solved with frame-limiting), but the story, or well, the game in general wasn't bad. The 1st undead campaign was a personal favourite for me. It was a combination of amusing and interesting, but there's a certain mission where something very specific got repetitive, and I didn't like that. If you played it, hear: "This dream is yours, and no-one else's". Now remember how much it was spammed.
That aside, what do you think? Is this game like the past one - is it worthy of having a second chance? Are the performance issues better now?

Comment on this however you like, but I think H6 was a solid base, but with a lot of issues. As time went by they've fixed a lot of things and at least made a mediocre to good game at the end. Ultimately, while the game does not make me wanna come back to it, I don't think of the time I spent on it as wasted.
But...
H6 was the "yellow card". I said to myself then: "if they (Ubi) will continue this half-made approach to the franchise I won't tolarate this". By "won't tolarate" I mean not buying or even playing (if you know what I mean ) their next Heroes game.
Heroes 7 is the "red card". At this point I will not give this game a second chance. They have to learn it the hard way, by low sales and overall player dissaproval (in the form of negative opinions/reviews). And I encourage other fans to do the same, even if this makes their "hearts bleed" (myself included). Don't give this game another chance. It does not deserve praise, even if they manage to patch things up. I hope that by making such a move Heroes fans will change something. We may be a small-income group, but at least we're a "solid" income group, that does not buy Heroes games on a whim, but rather on a "continious support" approach. And I seriously doubt that the "milk them till they know what's going on" strategy will work here anymore...
From this moment onward they either gonna change their ways or "terminate" this franchise...

I can hardly see myself saying something else. Something that screams 'mediocre' so hard doesn't even deserve a chance.

Actually, let me turn that around: If you're buying and supporting any Heroes game produced by Ubisoft, you're actively contributing to the franchise's destruction.
Take that as you will.

That's all bollocks. If you paid for the game in the first place - of course you'll give it a 2nd chance if something free comes along making things better.
The question is - if you didn't, then what? Depends on Let's play after a serious change plus the overll price. Buying damaged/repaired goods, always a risk, always comes with a price reduction. If not, no chance.

If you *must*, best to wait until it is fully patched. So yeah, wait a couple of months (or even years).

More like wait for an addon and then a couple more months In H6 shades improved the deal considerably.

You answered your own question.
I however will not buy a single Might & Magic product (Unless it's Heroes 4 HD) until they get their snow straight, which wont happen in a long time.

H7 deserves to be burned, scattered on the wind and forgotten along with it's earlier version H6.

Stevie said: Heroes 4 HD, really? I take it you guys haven't seen what they did with Heroes 3 HD, or you wouldn't be wanting any other remakes.
I know and if a H4 HD remake happens you can safley assume they will outsource it to a mobile developer because mobile > PC
I just wanna play H4 in 1080p

Out of curiosity, what did happen? Other than not including armageddon's blade and shadow of death that is.

Well, personally, I just didn't like the remake. The only real effort was to remake the game to fit higher resolutions, with better quality. That's it. No changes or additions in content make it a pretty repetitive experience, and this much is probably achievable with HD mod and some modding.
In short: It feels like it's a waste of time, or not worth it.
Anyways, I gave it a second chance, and I must say... What the crap was I thinking...
Now I'm really angry again
WARNING: Pretty long rant, if you want the most important point of this post without having to read all that, just skip ahead into something along the lines of "What I was trying to say in a nutshell"
I don't know what or how they did it, but performance is a total piece of jack poop. Many would argue that I need better hardware, but I said this once and I will say it again: You don't need graphical complexity in a strategy game. That's the first point, the second point, I know a lot of games that look a lot better, have TIMES the amount of content that exists in this game, yet run a lot faster. By a lot, I mean literally overkill.
This game runs at 15-20 FPS at the lowest settings. It's a disaster. GTA V has a ton of content, better graphical fidelity and a wide variety of options, and I run it somewhere between medium and high with 35-40 FPS.
Dota 2 looks better than MMH 7 even in minimum settings(I know because I used to play it on minimum on my old machine), and runs faster then this game... at max.
Basically, trying to run this game made me feel like they think I salvaged my hardware from a trash-bin, and that it's not proper equipment to play games. Heck, even the latest CoD titles run on my machine like a charm, but this game refuses to be something that deserves ANY pity.
I mean, seriously, if performance, the first, required, most important thing you need in a game isn't there, what does that tell you about it?
My basis of comparison is other games in the same period-zone where this game got released, but it just...
This game fails so hard, words can't describe it. The only meme, even, that can, is the mega facepalm meme, and no other.
What I was trying to say in a nutshell: Look man, I was trying to judge this game based upon content, presentation, whatnot, and not emotions, and guess what: This game neither found a place in my heart, nor did it on my hard drive.
Look, Limbic, Ubisoft, whoever made this... this diabolic, unholy existence of a game, I would have had no problem if you made hardware requirements higher, at the cost of visuals that are actually better - like, for example, that masterpiece called Witcher 3(the hardware requirements are pretty higher than my machine, yet it looks like it's 100% worth it) -. This on the other hand, fails miserably at both
And those are my second impressions. Damn, what a waste of bandwidth that was! Good thing I was only trying the game, not buying it, ugh!
Thank you for giving(or not giving) your time to read this post, good day, may you never have to go through what I did with this game.

I was about to ask the same thing. I find it nice to play and look at. It's good for quick h3 games and is fun to play on my tablet for plane rides.
Although my first heroes purchase (and only purchase, till h4) was the millennium edition, which had h3 ROE, so that's just the one I'm used to.

But wasn't H7 a second change itself after H6? Anyway, 'nay'. (to rhyme with "hey, let's not play!")
