I guess you can find most answers HERE..
tl;dr: it got considered as a sloppy job for quick cash grab, not taking community into account one more time etc, the usual Ubifail scenario.
Still, got better reception than h7.

If they made a h4 remake that didn't include any expansions, I'd enjoy that one too.
It does suck playing as fortress though without the dragonfly applying weakness, and the weak lizard warriors...

Dood, at this time and year, Complete edition is not complete enough.
Just the same, I wouldn't really see the point with making a H4 remake if some things are not getting corrected, don't forget H4 is an unfinished product, IIRC there was something like 2 programmers left for it in the end.
I own the UbiH3 remake, as Arnaud offered us copies at the fanday, but never installed it, as just like h7 it would feel like a downgrade to what already exists.

About H7 performance issues: Funny thing is that from what I recall they made it on Unreal engine. Probably the most well known ready-to-use game engine. An engine that is so much worked out already, that even self-thaught people who work on it for non-profit uses do a better job with it. In my company when a program has this many performance issues, we call it a "f*ck up" which needs to be either left alone, or rewritten from scratch...
About H4 HD remake: if they had at least the smallest penitence in them, they would ask people from the Equilibris mod to help them make it a better iteration...
BTW It would be nice if the H7s cycle ended already. And of course, if Limbic would be "discharged" from the franchise. I can't wait for all those juicy "behind-the-scenes" interviews with them, "Erwin was a tyrant blah blah...", "They've limited our options" etc. And then we will all take pity on them...

I'd very much prefer it would be Heroes IV remastered rather than HD edition, even if it means using the same engine as back then back correcting things that need correcting.

They didn't contact h3 modders and dismissed QAI, why would they contact h4 modders.

Share your hardware info, people having the same will know they'll have a chance to get the game running then.

How'd you do that? Did you buy one of the dev's PC or what? xD Because it feels like the game runs fine on roughly 5% of the systems out there..

Aside from the crashes and the memory leaks, I didn't really suffer performance issues either, as far as I can recall. Graphics all turned up fairly high. My system has an i7 Intel Pentium chip, 8 GB memory and a GTX670 video card, running under Windows 7.

AoE 2 HD edition had it's shortcomings as well, but at least they updated the AI, included the latest fan made mod and keep adding new content to the game. H3 HD edition didn't even have all the official content, let alone fan made additions. Since HoMM turned into MMH cheap shortcuts seem to be made in every possible direction.

I think this game deserves the second chance, at the latest after its suppport ends. But it ofc depends on your personal tastes.
If you were able to enjoy H5 very much and somehow liked H6 (even it had many dark points), H7 could take you too, because of great and not much repetitive campaigns and good stories, many well known mechanics, skill system which is at least for the first time you play the game quite interesting (thanks to racial skills) and great flanking system. Sure there are many problems left and the technical quality and Ubi's behaviour to fans is terrible but in final it should not deter you from from enjoying H7.
If you are still happy to play the old 2D original Heroes games more than the newer ones, I don't think H7 has much to offer - but I guess no other game than H3 exact copy with very little improvements would have a chance to amaze you. I have for example never fully understood why certain people liked the original campaigns - usually only "kill'em all ones" with flat ansd simple stories more than Ubi ones and they even still enjoy them more...

Farmer of Hate was the second chance,
Tribes of the East was the third chance, (but let's let them away with this one and call it satisfactory,)
Heroes 6 was the third chance,
DLC adventure packs were the fourth chance,
50 Shades of Elves was the fifth chance,
Heroes 7 was the sixth chance,
and you are expecting me to give them a seventh chance?

From my point of view, I prefer original campaigns because each level of the campaign felt like turn based strategy game that Heroes is. H5 and H6 transformed campaigns into shallow rpgs. If I wanted to play a rpg, I would've played any other real rpg.
PLUS, stories in H5 were: Griffin Eternal, Griffin Undying, Asha uses all, For the blood, etc. In H6 they were boring and uninspired and a little bit cliche. I haven't played H7 tthough, so I can't speak for those campaigns.

H5+ Heroes added to turn-based strategy new possibilities. Don't like it? There are still the same kill'em all games in multiplayer os single game. And these rpg elements and 3D graphics are one of the main things which changed how much I like Heroes...
But I understand everyone's different.
