I did have some experience but only hotseat. I knew the combos, artifacts, optimal build choices though I never could memorize the special classes  Please no thieves I hate the idea of someone sneaking into my town!

Thieves are for Pathfinding, Stealth works only against VokialBG.  Don't worry about advanced classes, you won't last long enough to get one.

I'm good to go, bring it on!
We had our games and it ended 2-1 in my favour. First was necro vs fortress but he had no light or resistance so the ensued barrage of dark sealed the game and he conceded. He had summoning with phantom forces and runic armour and was a bit disappointed he couldn't buy other spells.
So he made a suggestion, is there a script that sets gems to 5 on the second day? So that you buy spells but end up with limited resources before battle. That would be nice.
The other was orcs vs inferno where he used dark and summoning We both had a few mistakes but it was a nice game.
And one dungeon vs necro where I went for summoning/destructive/sorcery/attack. I totally messed that one, was aiming for elemental balanced and flaming ballista but never got flaming and I had to erase machines/luck and some levels from attack.. Eventually I run out of mana, to think I could have bought pendant of conflux if not for that massive mentoring.

first game i went for 2 magic schools,no defence and it proved to be a mistake ,had some hopes when i saw him miss a lot
but at the end empathy , his great tactics and my low dmg proved to be too much for me to hanlde
2nd i got haven ofc went for empathy ,light and few others ,his destructive wasn't that great( no ignite) so after pretty hard battle i managed to win
3d looked like disaster from the start for me,at first got 3 magic schools ,desrtuctive,light(big mistake) and dark,got mass haste also from attack and no light spells in spell shop ,,spent lot of money on mentor so couldn't buy dwarven shield(17000) ,low defence and orcs brute force won this game after little trouble with frenzy
congrats and good luck in the next rounds

Loved the first and third game. First you could tell that haven was killing them slowly but all those misses were scary. Guess Larry should have picked defense. And dark dungeon vs orcs is always fun.

Haha I felt that it was not particularly close, yes academy refused to die but as long as you see the paladins charging around without many casualties you know it's a matter of time.

there was a moment where about 20 of them killed 12 gargoyles, i felt hopeless
the 1st i played pretty bad(maybe could have picked better skills) and sq outplayed me in every way
but 3d with this setup looked pretty hopeless( no defence no sorcery,no dwarven shield) i knew what to expect just picked wrong skills , made some mistakes in battle but even if i played it all right i thing it was not winable espetially vs SQ

Only for Fortress I assume? Sure I can make that. Should I use the version I have myself or do you have an updated one in progress?

Use the current one, I don't have anything concrete for now. Except maybe inferno/necro losing the cloak as someone mentioned but I'm not so sure yet.
Edit: Yes fortress only.

Dwarves start with normal resources for spell shop, but the second day their resources are set to: 10 Wood, Ore, Crystal and Sulfur, and 5 Gems and Mercury.
If you need to change these values it's pretty easy: open the script file and search for the "DwarfGive" function. It sets all resources.
Ids:
0 - Wood
1 - Ore
2 - Mercury
3 - Crystal
4 - Sulfur
5 - Gems

They shouldn't start with mercury though or they'd be able to buy dark. Maybe in the chaos round  How do I remove mercury, I see the dwarf give script but not the starting custom resource list.
Also I'd like to have a non random version of the map, how do I make that work? Once I set garrisons and heroes as player 1, 2, 3.. etc but for some reason the necromancy script and custom resources did not work. Maybe factions in the script do not match the ones in the editor?
