Just kidding!
Romana, yeah, that's Hellboy! Great pic, by the way. I've rarely seen him with the horns. The movie was OK, I guess... I liked the closing scene (kissing... remember? ).
k1ngQuote:
i'm glad to hear someone agrees with me about Ultimate Spider-Man, thanks Vlaad .
Speaking of Marvel's "Ultimate..." titles, check out Ultimates (there are two volumes, I think). It's a cool revamp of the classic Avengers ("the earth's mightiest heroes" - Captain America, Thor, Hulk etc.). Intelligent writing and realistic drawing combined with epic adventures!
Quote: by the way i didn't really follow the entire serie but still there were some other things that mocked me. i've only seen Peter Parker wearing the Venom custom only for one issue, right? man, they could at least give him some more issues. there was a serie based on that he wears the Venom custom, Web of the Spider, in early years.
One issue?! Dude, I have the entire Black Costume Saga! I remember when Peter came back from space with his new tights, and Black Cat didn't believe he really was Spidey. It took a kiss to convince her! LOL
Quote: like who shot first in that Star Wars scene, Han or Greedo?, lol, i don't know if you watched the movie.
If I watched Star Wars...?
Quote: yes i watched the movie of Spawn, it was very good but i didn't really like the end of it. Image Comics, i actually stopped reading from Image Comics after Jim Lee left, and DC became more, how do you say it? cool? though i wasn't really following much of DC's series execpt that Knight's Fall and KnightQuest series of Batman, they were really cool. i've read some Superman issues about a blue Superman? i don't really know much about it, so can anybody who has read it give me a background?
Sure. For a short period, Supes gained new kind of powers - he was able to absorb and control energy (so he took a different costume to fit his new powers and image). For an issue, he even split into two persons (Superman Blue and Superman Red )! Fortunately, it didn't last long and we got the classic back! In real life, it was actually a marketing trick to earn some more bucks. Remember The Death of Superman?
Oh, have you read new Superman and Batman books by Jim Lee?
Quote: i forgot to mention about Punisher. Punisher is also a favorite character of mine from Marvel Comics, especially the one about Punisher kills all the Marvel characters, , coolest issue ever.
Hmmm, I haven't read that one. I'd recommend old issues by Mike Zeck and new by Ennis and Dillon (rather violent, though! ). I didn't care for the movie, but a friend told me the game features the highest number of possible ways to kill the enemy EVER! LOL I think it's 100+
Quote: i wonder if there would be a comic book serie of Homm3, what do you think of that?
Well, there are other fantasy titles, like "Dungeons & Dragons". It's as close as it gets.
"Sojourn" from CrossGen wasn't bad... and Romana has already mentioned WONDERFUL Elfquest books.
Quote: do you read Daredevil? he is a blind hero of justice, right? once a friend of mine discovered something on one of Daredevils, issues, i'm not sure whether it's a new or an old issue. you'now what was the thing, on the page it shows Daredevil is inside his room and there was a small television image drawn at the backside, weird :/.
Well, he can LISTEN to TV, right?

have you ever read comic book of Star Wars? , i have. the long story about old chronicles of EU, Star Wars:Tales of the Jedi. they had some good stuff , kinda fuse of mediavel age story with Star Wars.
once again, Spider-Man, about issues that drawn and written by Todd McFarlane. most people claim that his drawing has a bit violent, and i guess that's true, but then it became famous and most comic book drawers used that type of drawing, as i recall. that Spider-Man serie was called as it is later it turned into Peter Parker:Spider-Man.
what about the Hulk, i've read some issues of it about that, Bruce is runing away and keeping a low profile. two assassins are chasing him. what i remember is that at the end of the issue those two assassins get shot but somehow they came back to life. it was one of the new series of the Hulk.
about blue Superman, was he some sort of cyborg? i saw an issue had a cover shows half of his body is cyborg.
i don't really read manga or anime comics, but i like the japanese drawing style, it's nice . i think only comic book series i've read would be DBZ and Inuyasha, not the entire serie only a few issues of them.
there were some other comic books i've read at library, other than english comic books. one of them was a french comic book, and it was a little weird but meaningful. it was about a guy who kills someone but regrets it, and soul of the murdered man turns into a cartoon character and starts to live with the guy who killed him. later on it turns out to be, the guy had an artist girlfriend, and the man whom murdered was trying to steal her fingerprint so he could sell fake paints of her in blackmarket, and the guy helps him to get his own girlfriend's fingerprint but he regrets it and kills that man. at the very end of this story the guy loses his mind and the cartoon character looking soul kills him. i just wanted to give a resume of the story to know what do you think about it?

Sure, although we haven't gone far (see my previous post ). Any insight would be appreciated!
Romana
I was a huge fan of the original Lee & Buscema run on Silver Surfer! GORGEOUS artwork! I think Big John was the best at drawing human anatomy EVER.
Yes, Joost Swaarte uses the clear line, invented by Herge. Was Herge from Holland, too? I was disappointed when I found out that he did only the early Tenten stories, while his assistants drew the later issues (I actually preferred those, the one in China being my favorite). This situation reminds me of Disney studios, where artists get little or no credit.
Swaarte is actually an illustrator...?
Jebus
Yeah, everybody loves Spider-Man, don't they? That was the secret of his success when he first showed up in 1962: he was the comics' first everyman. In addition, I agree the babes were hot! OK, I'll admit it: I was in love with Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane! There... I said it. Whaddaya think - who was more beautiful of the two?
k1ng
Sorry, I haven't read that Hulk episode. The best Hulk stuff I saw was recent mini-series called Banner - a good and clear story about what Hulk is really about, featuring cool art by Corben.
No, the blue Superman was not a cyborg. The cyborg was an evil imposter who appeared while the real Supes was presumed dead. This storyline happened about 5 years before the change of the costume.
Unfortunately, the story you re-told doesn't ring a bell, although I am a fan of the French. It does sound deep and strange... Moebius?

I actually posted this some where else on this ste...but thought i justgo ahead and put it here....
yup... i love the older original elfquest better than the fan based one... but i like it also.... my RA and Bestfriend in college had the whole series and introduced me to it... i spent two days reading it all non stop... skipped my classes and everything... and then a couple of years ago one of my roomates had the hard bound copy and i read it twice again.... i love it. Its my favorite comic of all time....
Ive recently been getting into manga. these are some that have cought my eye:
1. I's - the artist is really good with shading and very original considering that it is a manga and still has that quality to the artwork... the story is about this kid who is in love with this girl at his school... its really funny...
2. Full Moon - o Saga****e - the artwork for this is really whimsical... very flowy and enchanting... its about a young girl...12.... who made a promis to a friend to become a singer and then she find out she only has a year t live unless she gets a surgery that removes her voice box... she meets some funny charators that make her dream a reality and so forth... its really indearing to read... and i feel like her sometimes... although i dont have just a year to live... but i am a musician and singer and i want that to be a career just as much as art.
3. Othello - the artwork in this is just beautiful... still looks very manga but very different and simplistic but with a very nice clarity... i love it!... admire it!... even want to *secretly* .... combine it with my own style... but will never do that because im not that kind of artsit and have my own style... but it is great!... the story, again, is about a girl who wants to sing... but throughout her childhood... and since her mothers death.... has been made to feel like she shouldnt... so she winds up getting two personalties... its really funny becasue i can realate to that!
this isn't the best pic i could find... sorry.
not dissing on the classics... i like them too....

No , Herge is from belgium
Honestly Joost Swaarte didn't ring any of my bells..I'm not much of a fan of the clear line drawing style
One I also forgot to mention was the Black Orchid series..anyone know these? And The Chronicles of the black moon?
By Francois Froideval (I believe he also has something to do with several fantasy card games ?) Drawn by Ledroit.

Nah, I think I'll bash him.
Like I've written in the Altar of Wishes thread, I am not fond of Heroes V concept art. The artist seems to "cheat" the same way he does in his comics - by drawing highly detailed kitsch characters; he seems to lack an original approach and even the knowledge of anatomy. Just compare it to Warcraft or (even more on topic) Heroes Online drawings.
His final result may seem eye candy, but strip away all the unnecessary ornamentation and the game designers are left with too little to work with. Remember his official wallpaper for H5... or that huge pic with a woman in white armor fighting a big red demon...?
It may work out in his books, though.
About Joost Swarte... I am not a fan of the clear line myself, but sometimes he produces interesting stuff... like this page I found:

About the H5 concept thingie; I haven't gotten into it that much. It's the first time I saw that Crusader and to be honest..I kinda like that pic
About the anatomy.. I don't think it's obligatory for fantasy (elves have pointy ears too )
But to each their own.
About the Black moon comic. I was under the impression Froideval did the story and Ledroit the drawings (says so on the cover atleast)

Do you know some good web comics?
Perhaps we could share links or even post strips here (just be kind to us mortals with 56k modems ).

I hope your girlfriend wasn't looking either Vlaad
X-Men
X-Men 2
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Hulk
Daredevil
Elektra
Punisher
Hellboy
Batman Begins
Fantastic Four
Ghost World
From Hell
Garfield
Elektra
This movie had great potential in my opinion but at some points I thought they just rushed through some stuff. I had expected more from the final fight and would have liked to see more story detail. Elektra rules! ( I'm wondering if they maybe had too low budget )
Hellboy
When I first saw the poster I thought..Oh noo..it's that annoying actor. This is going to be one sucky movie . But I loved it.. same as Elektra though i would have liked to see more
I'm planning to see Batman begins really soon and Fantastic Four too ( If my daughter gives me the time)
Punisher
Which one do you mean? The first or the second?
About the other ones ..I've seen them but forgot already what they were about. From what I can remember I thought they were amusing (except for Garfield gahhh!)
edit: I believe the League of Extraordinary gentlemen also belongs here?

That was my impression, too. The film simply didn't live up to its potential.

Actually, I love the artwork - simple but powerful - more than those SF/horror stories. The movie was OK.
Quote: I'm planning to see Batman Begins really soon
That movie is either 20 years late OR I'm 20 years too old. I'm afraid it's the latter, though.
Quote: and Fantastic Four too ( If my daughter gives me the time)
Take her with you - she'll like it more than you. Seriously, it's fun but shallow... like a TV show or something.
I like Jessica Alba and hated every second when she turned invisible.
In addition, Star Wars fans can see where Lucas "borrowed" Darth Vader from... meet Dr Doom! (Not my imagination - he admitted the fact himself).
Quote: Punisher
Which one do you mean? The first or the second?
The latest. You can see I didn't list any movie older than year 2000.
Quote: I believe the League of Extraordinary gentlemen also belongs here?
I love captain Nemo! He's my sweetypie!
To each their own LOL
The FANTASTIC comic (by genius Alan Moore, who also did Watchmen), but the film was pathetic.

Definitely Chris Reeve and the original.
Back to question when you asked me Vlaad if i had read KULL.Do you mean comic book or normal book?becasue i had read all books from Robert Ervin Howard which is the creator of Conan,Kull and the others like Solomon Kane,Bran Mak Morn and book by name Almuric i think, phew he was a good writer, and i like him,Ive got all his books about all his characters.
And back to the movies,
I think that X-men was good even it was a movie, like you said nothing is like original.
Elektra, first i was fascinated that this movie will be something new,but i had feeling that this movie had a big lack of something, something was missing there,it was so empty at the end.
And Hulk, please dont remember me the movie,it was terrible and boooooring!!i fell asleep three times during the movie and i had to stay from my chair and to refresh me with some cold water.IN this case it was absolutely bad bad bad.

I meant the comic, because it is very similar to your favorite Conan.
I think Marvel published those stories (featuring Solomon Kane and other heroes) in comic books, too.

LOOOOL It wasn't that bad, was it? I thought it was like an hour of boring drama plus a cartoon featuring Hulk. The ending was strange: Hulk is fighting his father, when a huge bubble (with pictures) comes up. What was that all about?!

i guess someone from backstage threw a cigar to lake, which was full of gasoline for special features. then it blew up, it looked so good that they ended up the movie just like that. lol. just kidding.
if they make a sequal to that movie, i'd say it should be about the Gray Hulk .
also, for Spider-Man 3, that is still in production, should've been about Venom, but instead i heard it's gonna be about Spider-Man vs Sandman. i mean come on, ok sandman is a great character, no doubt, but i'd say Venom would be much more interesting for audience, right?
