AMD Athlon 4000+
2GB DDR 400MHz RAM
Ge-Force 7800GT 256MB
Demo runs flawlessly with everything on high and full AA/AF.
My motherboard is an Abit and Abit UGuru utility has a weird reaction to the demo when it is running especially when in town view or when the game is running but sitting idle. The Uguru utility always starts itself up automatically and its not really a problem, just annoying because it interrupts the game (game minimize to taskbar).

Minimum requirements
With my computer having only an:
1500 Mhz AMD Athlon 1800 processor
512 Mb RAM
64 Mb NVIDIA G-force video cart
I seriously doubt that I will be able to run the game. However, I am able to run the recent Civilization IV, albeit with some problems - very sluggish game upload, especialle in late game - so I guess I'll give it a try. Otherwise, I'll have to purchase a new PC.
However, I do want to share this experience with you: When I purchased Civ IV, it crashed every other time I tried to start it, as well as often in midgame. I purchased extra RAM, which was an improvement, but didn't solve the crash-on-start problem. Then someone told me to update my drivers - and now - no problems with computer crash!
Therefore: REMEMBER TO UPDATE YOUR GRAPHIC CARD AND/OR SOUNDCARD DRIVERS. It can make a world of a difference in performance stability.

Just get a newer graphics card and you'll probly be OK. Graphics card is usually the biggest bottleneck in performance. On my other PC I have an ATI 9600 PRO AIW 128MB which was really a great value when I bought it about 2 years ago.....now I'm sure theyre much cheaper than before.

I've got a Athlon 64 3000+ with 2 gig (2-3-2-5 DDR400 PC3200) OCZ platinum ram and an EVGA GF7800GS 256 mg graphic card, SATA RAID 0 2X80 gb drives and still, with everything set at maximum (1024X768 though) I get sluggish frame/sec. rate in the demo and on the UNLEASHED release of the "supposedly" retail version of the game. Anyone knows what's going on ? Will the "retail" game be more optimized ?

I downloaded the demo a couple of weeks ago but I'm experiencing a problem: I can run the game and enter the main menu etc. but when I try to launch a scenario or campaign it crashes when the loading bar is half way done and I get the usual error message: "The program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down bla bla bla...".
I have the required version of directX, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440. I think this meets at least the minimum requirements.
Has anyone else experinced this problem or know how to fix it

I wish someone would give the answer to that. I have the exact same problem, and even my friend with a GF7900 PCI-E 256. Damn .. can't imagine they would have made a game no one can ride on their system. Oh and:
Quote: My computer is AMD Athlon XP 2500+
768MB of DDR RAM running at 333mhz
Then I upgraded to Geforce 6600GT 128MB and the difference was incredible - the game ran SMOOTHLY on 1920x1200 on highest quality with anti aliasing
I am sorry dude but I don't believe it. I have the latest version of my graph drivers on, and still .. my computer is having a hard time playing the game SMOOTHLY like you say .. if it's true, then I'm jealous! Lol ! Lucky you .. !

The angle of the camera determines how much of the map you see and when you see more map the CPU and vid card have to do more work to render everything you see so ofcourse it makes a difference on performance. Even though the entire picture still fits into whatever resolution you have it set to, when you view more of the map you are still physically viewing much more rendered 3D detail.
Also I noticed that the way the camera works in this game causes your view to rise and fall when you are traveling over high terrain like mountains so this may cause slowing too. Even with my system I noticed that when viewing the map from above a high mountain peak with the camera angle set to the side like you describe (so I could see lots of the map) that it was slower than usual and there was a bit of stuttering.

1500mhz
1gig ram
gforce4 64mb
not the best computer in the world im sitting with, but still.. ya would think atleast it should START but oh no ^^
And i have updated my drivers for vid/snd cards so i wonder what to do what to do..
No chance with 64 MB videocard at all....and cpu is too weak also....Ram doesnīt replace everything..

Athlon 2800+ XP (2.08 Ghz)
2 Gigs of Ram
256 MB GDDR3 X800 XT PE Video Card
Using 800x600, low settings (automatically recommended it).
- Movement of the heroes gets stuck sometimes as well as the computers.
- Viewing the world and battle scene bigger gets laggy, reducing very low improves it.
- Spells, Actions of creatures, anything in a battle, slows down sometimes.
- When battling over 20 mins, everything disappears, can only see the battlefield, nothing else.
I suppose it would be my low CPU that gives me the problems listed above.

The only time this happened to me, was years ago when I tried to play a DVD-rom in a Cd drive.
Of course, you could have a damaged disc, does it look any different?
Or it could be a damaged cd drive.
Last guess (i promise), your drive disc speed could be too low.

Most likely reasons mentioned above but also occassionally the autorun file doen't automatically launch on all PC configurations. Usually the readme file has instructions for manually launching the autorun file in these cases. Go to "My Computer" and right click on the drive icon containing the Heroes disc and select Explore from the menu. Locate the readme file and see what it says.

I've got the same graphic card as you, and experience the exact same problem. RAM is also the same but my cpu is 2.42 GHz.
I'll still don't see why the game shouldn't load at all. Minimum requirement for graphic card is 128 MB, but I've often played games even though my computer didn't meet the minimum requirements.

My game runs fine but my machine does have more muscle than yours.
When it does exactly crash?
With some other games I have had problems with intromovies. Disabling intromovie in those cases have had helped me. I must admit that the problem might be somewhere else but this is one possibility.

You need a DX 9 card to play the game AFAIK... GF 4 MX series is only DX 7, so I think that's the cause.
