Does anyone know a fix for this bug?
If you manage to spawn Alastor, please share the save file.
From my experience, that mission is bugged.
On the 3.0 patch I always had to fight elementals and couldn't get through to next segment, yet sometimes it worked and other times it didn't (yes I got the +1 knowledge to complete the quest bit it was random whether it let me through or not).
Alastor not appearing is probably the same bug. For what it's worth, you'll have to start the mission over again.

Hey everyone, I just installed HoMM 5 on my Mac and before being able to play the game requires an online registration. However, anytime I try to do it, the game prompts out an error message stating that the servers could not be reached. Anyone knows how to deal with it?

Hello everyone!
I recently bought new PC, Processor Intel G4560, Graphic RX 470 Gaming X 8GB or ram, windows 10 OS.
Installed HoMM V GoG edition (playing TotE mainly), first problem I can't fix V sync in game,and I am sure it is related to graphic drivers... Using Crimson Edition last version (at least V sync isn't so bad when I start game in windowed mode).
Second more annoying probem is related to unit auras(those spining auras beneth units/Heroes feets). No matter what I do with my graphic settings, those auras are not spinning smoothly. Their spin is choppy and limited to lower fps. All other things in game: animations (on world's map or in combar, moving etc) are working really nice and smoothly but those auras with their choppy spin gives me very annoying feel of game lag and it's pretty painful to play game like this...
If anyone has some advice or suggestion how to solve this graphic AURA problem or to fix V sync, please help.
New strong PC on which new games are working smoothly and old loved one is bugging, is probably the worst feel related to gaming... xD

Hello Craglord!
Good to hear about the new PC! First of all is it a PC or a laptop?
If it is a laptop it is possible that the game is using the embedded graphics card instead of the more powerful Intel one.
What you can do is open Intel VGA menu pane (from control panel or right click on desktop and you should see something Graphics related in the context menu). There you can set which VGA operates for different applications. You can even set specific VGA settings per application.
You can create a custom profile for Heroes 5 exe if necessary.
You second option is to apply this patch, unzip it and put it in <game folder>/bin.
Let me know how it goes.

It is desktop PC, not laptop.
I have tried to create new profile in Crimson Relive Edition (which is graphic interface for ATI Radeon graphic cards) for Homm V, but nothing changed in the game, no matter what I change in profile...
I have tried also with that file, and no change.
Can anyone who is using win10 relate with this graphic problem about auras I described in my previous post?
I really don't know is problem related to win10 or drivers.

Edit: Found solution, game lag is caused by greater amount of RAM memory (In my case 8 GB of RAM). All I have done is restricted my memory to 3GB of RAM. I did that in msconfig, at the Boot tab -> Advanced options -> check Maximum memory and set it to 3072. Apply and restart. That was the only way to make it work for me. PS. Flashing Grid in Water Graphics
Hello HOMM V Community,
During HOMM V gameplay, the water on the map flashed with an alternating horizontal and vertical grid. The glitch did not happen when I started playing the game initially. It began after several different games and countless hours of playing.
The flashing is very distracting. Does anyone have advice as to the problem or how to stop it from happening?

Here is troubleshooting method that is required on Win. 10 PCs.
1. Make sure all of your game files are re-downloaded and installed a.s.a.p.(Java included). Direct X 9.0d - August 2010 is quite recommended and Visual Studio redistributable x86 & x64 2008 + their latest fixes(add-on file to modernize and render it fully compatible under the Win. 10 Home x64 Edition).
2. If game is not modded by many game changing mods like .h5u in the Mods folder + Data folder, game will falter in both the graphics and functionalities as well.
Here are the main mods that I use and renders this game absolutely marvelous:
H5 Graphics Overhaul
H5 Graphics Overhaul part 2
H5 Graphics Overhaul part 3
New_Arenas_mod
NHF add-on major mod
Reanimation Mod
So, the game becomes Heroes of Might and Magic 5(Untitled but still is T.o.T.E. v.3.1) with the version name NHF 0.85(do not worry, it is not in beta status).

HOMM 5 Gold edition
I got the actual disk to HOMM 5 Gold edition from the local library. Complete with double disk (Disc 1 has the Base game and TOE while Disk 2 has HOF).
I want to ask if there is any patching necessary to make it more playable. I have heard of patches for this game being released after gold edition was released but i don't know which ones to download.

However unofficially there is a huge amount of work done by the community that expands the vision of H5 and replayability of the game.
Here is a guide on where to find the patch and how to install the new unofficial expansion.
You can also roam around the forums, you can find a lot of information here.

After the 3.1 patch is successful, I went to the website and downloaded the latest version of the 5.5 mod. However, the download doesn't seem to be verified and I can't even run the installer. Not even following the video guide and saving it on a destination rather than running it straightaway worked. The installer is not even recognised and it led me to the "Use this program to open function".
Any idea why?

Keyboard doesn't work. Cannot zoom in/out.
Hi folks.
I have the GOG version of Heroes of Might & Magic 5 - Tribes of the East. I had it running flawlessly on my old rig (Windows 7), but since I bought my new PC (Windows 10) and installing TOTE there, i'm encountering some problems:
- The textures in the main menu's battle sequence don't load. But if I change the resolution or switch from full screen to windowed mode, they work flawlessly. Once they loaded properly, I can switch back to full screen or the highest resolution and they keep getting loaded properly.
- My keyboard doesn't work ingame at all. I cannot skip intro movies. I cannot split stacks (which would require using the shift key). I cannot press ESC to bring up the menu. I cannot... do anything with my keyboard. ALT-Tabbing still works.
- Worst issue: I cannot zoom in/out or tilt the camera, neither by using the keyboard (obviously...) nor the mouse. The mouse works for klicking or moving the cursor to the edge to scroll the map. But zooming doesn't work, neither on the world map, nor in combat. This makes the game pretty unplayable for me, since it starts out zoomed in.
I have been in contact with GOG support, but the guys couldn't solve my problem. What I tried:
- windowed mode
- making exceptions to Windows Defender / Firewall; switching both off completely; changing to Avast Antivirus
- switching mouse, keyboard, monitor to different devices
- running the game in different compatibility modes as well as admin mode
- running the game in DXWind
- taking manual control of all associated files/folders
- running in clean boot mode
- running with/without GOG Galaxy, disabling overlay in GOG Galaxy
- running with/without Heroes 5.5 Mod, both in 32 and 64 bit versions
If anyone has an idea I could try, that I didn't already, I'd very much appreciate it.

Hello,
I have Lenovo y50-70 laptop (nvidia 960m and intel 4720hq), and the FPS is constantly jumping, from 60 to 20 (especially, when I vertically move the camera to the ground).
I have selected in nvidia control panel to use nvidia GPU, and installed heroes 5.5 (which should allow to use more than 4gb of ram). My CPU and GPU are used max 20% (monitored), and I have more than 10gb of ram left.
So what can I do to stop this FPS drops?
