Ubi's tech support is terrible at least where H5 is concerned You are not the first to complain.

Quote: After completing the second scenario of the third TOTE campaign I started the third scenario, but decided to go to bed without saving.
The next day when I went to restart the third scenario it was locked, and it looks like my campaign was somehow reset. I loaded a saved game and beat the second scenario again, but after I beat the scenario all but the first scenario were still locked. Any ideas?
Thanks!
You will have to uninstall your game in its entirety and, reinstall the game in order to reactivate the campaigns' scenarios(unlocking them as you attempt to complete the linked scenario like campaign). Please, make sure to save before shutting down your machine. It is not a choice or option, it is an obligation.
@Incingnerus: Click on the zipped file of that map by using the right button of your mouse and, left click the Extract function of Windows. It will make a new folder in the same Maps folder. Use the Cut and, then paste into the main Maps folder using the same right click method.

Quote: Location: Finland.
Game: Hammers of Fate mainly, but also tried Tribes of the east.
Computer:
3200+ Thunderbird, Radeon 9800 pro, Creative Audigy, 0,5Mb internet.
Ping www.ubi.com: 140ms.
Okay.. I recently bought the Heroes 5 Gold edition, mainly to get to play it on multiplayer.
Is it just me, or is there something horrible wrong with the ubi.com? In the game lobby, it shows everybodys ping to be 1500+, including mine, and the games are unbelieveable laggy.
I have been playing some 6+ games vs my brother now, who also lives in Finland.
Once tried 4player FFA, but that was just unplayable, the lag was everywhere.
Experience so far: I have been disconnected from the ubi.com randomly during the game on almost every game, that has lasted a bit longer. Ocasionally the lag comes unbearable, leaving the game frozen for several seconds, with the mouse cursor as the hourglass.
Every action in the ubi.com lobby takes that ~1,5 seconds, like gathering profile, validating online key, joining channel ect.
So.. what's wrong with ubi.com, as it thus behaves, and how can I fix it? Where should I direct my questions?
Edited: Added some more details
ubi.com is **** to play online, as I understand it. Rather, you should play through Tournament Of Honour - Elvin posted some information on this in the FAQ on page 1 of this thread, and alternatively, look in the Tournament Of Honour (TOH) forum of this community for more information. Hopefully, that'll solve your problem.

Quote: I have searched multiple forums for an answer on this...so far unsuccessfully. While playing the HOMM5 demo first campaign ( Haven Campaign, mission 5) , everything runs great...3d panning, zooming, battles, cities, etc...right up until the exact point I capture the gold mine just NW of Dunmoor. At that time, the game starts to lag terribly. I thought it was pretty unusual that an ingame event that really didn't expose more of the screen or change much of anything else, would cause such a dramatic impact. I have ordered the full version and was wondering if this might be something that's been encountered before and/or that may have been addressed in one of the patches? My current PC is getting pretty dated and I'll probably be upgrading to a dual core, geforce 8800 equipped pc within a couple of months...Current system specs:
P4 3.0 ghz
Radeon 9800 pro 128 mb
2 gbytes DDR 400 ram
Win XP
all drivers and OS with latest updates
I guess my basic question is if anyone has an opinion on rather I'll be able to play the full version on my current pc? I do see that even some geforce 7 series owners have been having some issues with this game. Any ideas on a cure for my demo lag problem?
ps...this is one of the rare forums that are still talking about a 2 year old game...it seems that only the best games live this long!!
I'm not a tech wiz, but from my impression, neither your processor, RAM or OS should cause your problems. Graphic card with only 128 mb memory could cause issues, however - and as most problems seem to arise from people having insufficient Graphic cards, I would deffinitely check up on this specific issue.

The graphic card with 128 ram is completely ok, but 256 is better (the menu doesn't lag then but honestly it is the only visible change since I upgraded my gf fx 5200 to 7300 gt).
The game is really about your ram amount, if it's x => 2gb it will run fine.

Alc is right. The graphics card is most likely the issue. RAM is fine for that guy. I recommend upgrading your graphics card to 256 MB or possibly higher.

LOL i have 128 MB of video memory and an old GeForce 5500 and the game works fine
The problem here i think is not the memory, but the processing power of the video card. It might not have enough acceleration. Everyone thinks about memory these days.
(though the menu lags quite a bit, that is NOT because of MEMORY!)
also I have only 1 GB RAM...

Hello everyone,
I just recently got back into playing Heroes of Might and Magic as I had stopped for a while after the release of Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
I searched on Amazon.com to see what had come out since then, learned how New World Computing closed shop and Ubisoft took over putting the game out and Heroes V and HOF and TOE were the result.
I noticed that Tribes of the East is Microsoft Vista compatible but Heroes V and HOF are not. I have a fairly new notebook that is running Vista.
I've bought Tribes and am playing it now, but my question is how do I get Heroes V and HOF to play on my computer.
I borrowed a friend's copy of Heroes V and tried installing it and the process kept coming up with an error message about 75% of the way through the installation process.
Are there Vista versions of Heroes V and HOF or what?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide in this matter.

I just bought HoMM V 1 hour ago. The box came with one DVD. My computer just doesnt pick up the DVD. The DVD works on other computers. My computer reads other disks fine, except this HoMM one! I put it into my DVD drive, then it makes some strange beeping and spinning noises(trying to read it), I go to My Computer to see what's happening, and it freezes and goes 'not responding' :/
I have uninstalled daemon and such(maybe emulator conflict issues).

My eyes and I thank you in advance for your help
Perhaps this has to do with the fact that you only have 533Mhz RAM? I thought that the minimum would have been 1024 MB (1 GB) of RAM and the recommended was 2048 MB (2 GB) of RAM?
Perhaps you should try upgrading your RAM. If it does have something to do with the graphics, then perhaps upgrading your video card might help.

With a little RAM you may just find yourself unable to play large maps, but the engine won't be affected. I already did it some months ago.

Problem with detection
Hi, I have a following problem with patch 3.1:
the patch says it doesnt see, that Tote is installed on my laptop. It just can't detect Tote being installed on my toshiba. I thougt it is something wrong with the patch, but when i insert my DVD with the game and the autorun starts - it also CANNOCT detect the game installed on my laptop, cause it offers me to install the game, not to play it. (when autorun detects the game installed - there is an option to play, not to install).
I work on MS Vista, maybe thats the cause.
Anyone knows what to do????

@william: he said Mhz not MB
@HelpPlease: its probably a problem with your dvd-drive, dust on the lens, those kind of problems, see if you can find a cleaning dvd/cd. Or it could be the dvd itself, look if its scratched or smudged, if smudged clean it with a piece of cloth if scratched return it from where you bought it
@Godulio: just reinstall tote and it'll work

yes, but there are some (older) dvd-drives that have quite a bit of problems with reading smudged dvd's, that's why i suggested cleaning the dvd.
Options: clean dvd-drive(with special drive cleaning cd/dvd), make copy of the dvd at another computer and try it with that(or make an image of the dvd and transfer that to your computer), download heroes from the internet and use your cd-key with that copy, send the dvd back and get a replacement
