I have an upcoming battle sylvan anwen agains jinxer's ingvar...
I don't think sylvan has advantange in any case there, ingvar to me is more scary than anyone else in late game 
Will post replay when game is over 
Kispagat aka frodo is right, sylvan is kill fast or die slow race, can't be changed, its never about protecting shooters for them.

I was playing random opponent duels against the AI today and ended up in a Sinitar v. Sinitar mirror match. The result can only be described as "Mutually Assured Destruction". My eyes rolled so hard they almost fell out of my head.

I had a stronghold army led by Garuna with 34 untamed cyclops, 60 paokai, 609 trapper goblins, 345 centaurs and 71 chieftains. I was playing vs Haven, who was my friend. He had Klaus, 53 Archangels, 644 crossbowman, 40 paladins and 20 or so zealots. My hero was level 19, his 16. Anyway, he won, thanks to me killing all of my paokai with a lucky strike from untamed cyclops while trying to kill his remaining archangels that where standing next to the archangels I think the cyclops killed somewhere about 40 of my paokai ...

I read not so long ago about Ancient Trents and there Superb Defense Abilities

I just wanted to test them, and i didn't wanted started a new game so i loaded the one i had one choose the first hero with Treants and close to Sylvan Town. The map was pretty empty so chosen the first closest i can find for practice. I made bad choice for sparring creature because i Chooseen

Hmm. I realise that this is for H5 but I think someone should know how much I sucked tonight.
I was playing H3 random map 2SM4d against a computer on expert. I was random got stronghold and gundula. It was flux and used verdish. I only got rocs and castle week one. Conquered inferno week one. Behemoths week two. Nothing else. I was bankrupt. Conquered enemy castle next week. It had full creatures week two. I beat verdish but she got away. Also beat numerous secondaries. Failed to get enemy main castle week three. It build full population and with verdish defending I went for it's another castle, which I found out was near full built stronghold with only behemoths missing. Turned into castle trading we ran in circles around the map capturing castles in turns. Only I had only rocs and some stray firebirds to go in. No ballistics either.  I got wasted badly. Troops diminished from day to day. One day I just couldn't capture any other town and because I was left with only inferno and one stronghold I didn't have a chance. AAs, ABs, Phoenixes, Champions, Magic Elements, Storm elements, Cyclopses versus My behemoth and rocs equals in a stand off. I can't capture any castle and neither can it since I beat verdish on open ground.(mass haste ftw!) If I leave my castles undefended they are captured. Stand off with AI is much more humiliating than a defeat against a human can ever be. 
AI can never put up an even fight with me in H5 who was it that ever said that H5 has better AI than the one in H3 should be shot.
I have to admit I plaeyd carelessly in the early creeping. (What kind of an idiot forgets native ground for centaurs on grass and get's two rocs lost as a result. The answer, me. Oh and pikemen got moral and killed a behemoth, lol. )
I think big part of H5 AI being less challenging than H3 one comes from the bigger part that heroes play in the game. For example flaming ballista with orcs and you can take out anything under 12 black dragons with 7 goblins. Or phoenix creeping with necro or academy.
This makes money have less impact early game than it does in H3 where troops are more important than heroes. In there if it happens to be a poor template like this one was(three chests in two areas and NOTHING underground what on earth?  ) it might be pretty equal map. No use chaining 'cause there's nothing to chain to and the difference in troops is quite big. In H5 the difference between troops can be big too but because the hero can make up for a lot more it isn't that dramatic thing.
I've tried using AI mods and actually I'm using one right now. Can't remember the name but something about classic AI I think. It does make the AI a little more challenging than vanilla but not much. If someone could make a difficult AI mod for H5 I'm ordering.

You suck for not pwning the AI on queen, let alone losing on expert Losing the behemoth reminds me of my own suckiness last time I played samiekl. Sure I had not played stronghold in a while and did not have tent but I managed to lose 3 cyclopes in creeping 
One vs a pack of titans that I hoped my rage reduction and eating goblins would get me through(yeah right), one vs a pack of shadow dragons(was hit by both stacks before I could eat a goblin) and another vs titans - if you can believe it 10 or so titans dealt exactly 220 dmg before hero or ballista acts. Man, when I'm playing stupid it shows.
Except I got ring/staff and 4 parts of the dragon set and won badly The game can be so unfair at times, it's not as if I did not do my best to lose.

I had to redeem myself so I replayed the map. I won week 2 day 7 and the enemy didn't stand a chance this time.
It's all about the route you take. I went to castle first this time and what did I find? An area full of money and crystal! If I had only taken this route the first time I would have had behemoths week one then too. And this time I remembered that the centaurs are on grass.
What do we learn from this? If you know the map then the AI is doomed. So I shall only play blind randoms against it from now on in H3.
In H5 I prefer to play custom maps blind. Actually I'm playing genesis with random got orcs computer got academy now. It doesn't stand a chance. I only used ballista and goblins in creeping. Cleared everything from my side. Now I only need to stock up home and go do some crashing.
But the reason why I prefer H3 is pretty clear here. I replayed the map in H3 in ten minutes and I have been playing this map for at least 4 hours maybe more.  Thank god the patch speeded up the game like double. Now I can play the game not just do one battle per hour.
Three cyclops? lol. I have lost one at best and even that was due to some extreme stupidity.
 , I haven't seen a sunken temple before. What might they contain I wonder? Let's find out!

I made the biggest twit move ever, this evening. On Will of Asha, the highest portal where the succubus taunts at you by turning into fire when you get close? Yeah, well, out of general curiosity I stepped poor Arantir into the flames. Poof. Instant mission fail. Oopsies!

Even tough its not a defeat yet, yesterday night's experience may help others not to do this again.
Map: Twilight world
I play with orc against Zilo.
I was attacking an opponent controlled garrison, which contains 3 untaimed cyclops and some other creatures.
I was shooting&hitting the cyclops and also I used 3*1 goblin to stop it moving. When the cyclops has only 3 hp left he SWALLOWED MY GOBLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and recovered.
The result was nasty. I lost 130 goblins, 50 gremlins, and 2 wyvern.
I did not know this is possible.

I didn't know that one, I'd be pretty pissed if it happened to me.
Time for an update! Just finished a game with fiur and I managed to turn a seemingly easy victory to disaster! Week of might and magic, I have celerity, dragon greaves and my grim raiders/reds ready to cause terror in the first charge - of course I also had swift mind with armour breaking fireball(cape), deep freeze(icicle) for the extra physical damage and implosion.
Reality check: Fiur gets staff of netherworld and all elemental resistance arties but ice. To make matters worse he puppets my 20 reds and totally annihilates me.

Judging by the stats Rutger had (especially Spellpower and Knowledge - impressive for a Knight), it was probably a very rich map.
And why didn't you use Blacks? I mean, Haven is even a Dark Magic native town (so it was a Frenzy/Puppet danger), and you didn't even plan to buff them, at least (and Blacks can't be buffed)

I obviously didn't count on dark, I have rarely if ever seen a knight with both light and dark vs dungeon. And that wouldn't matter if he did not have the staff as I'd most probably attack first and finish the remains with destructive.

it was a rush to the middle game... I missed 2 of the wizard set...
(yes it was in the middle)
when we both stood next to the dragons... I hit end turn (as player1)
he got a full move took all...
he got now atleast 2 of the wizards set and he told me he got the lions set... 
in final battle I used curse twice!! before I saw that he got that magic resist mini grrrr
yes I'm damn good... (read champion) lol

@Fiur: Maybe we should have a title for that replay, like... "Numbers don't matter"? Practically the battle mages doing all the killing. Heck, it was Narxes. And the effect of mini-arties was also scary.

The first time i played Dungeon i took an custom map and took Lethos, There where 3 enemyes one of them where Dungeon and two Random which came to be Necropolis(the first Homm v1.3 ). I was wondering why the Lethos special abilitiy doesn't work on them.
I barelly won the first meeting...

It was a bug?
Anyway,I remember a game while playing with Vittorio against Lethos on a random map Haven vs. Dungeon vs. Sylvan on hard.Anyway,the Sylvan got defeated from the early midgame.I don't know why,probably their last hero got defeated because he attacked a too powerful adv.map stack of creatures or got defeated by Dungeon.
Anyway,I got defeated while defending the town.Foolish me Why?Because I gave pretty powerful armies to the heroes which I've sent exploring the map for resources.
Lethos attacked me at the town.Of course I've been weaked by his ability.The (weak) ballista was easily destroyed by the Black Dragons and Shadow Matriachs,the 17 Paladins were easily killed by the 478 Blood Witches,and then thhe few Angels I've got (5) were killed by the Black Dragons.Anyway,the best ones from my army were the shooters (Marksmen and Inquisitors) which really hurt the Dungeon troops.At the last turns,were easy to lose,9 Black Dragons and 14 Matriaches killed my last shooters.
With the adventuring heroes I won't find a new town,and I lost that game
