?

I'm going to have to go with Cor on this one. In this thread alone you have come as close to calling us Americans bloodthirsty, warmongering murderers as one can without actually putting it in those words. To be honest, it's getting rather annoying. Please stop.

Both Gnomes and Corribus, you should turn back a few pages and read carefully Gotch post, which started the fire:

You Euros kill me sometimes.  Bunch of whiny, sobby, complaining, unemployed cretins who can't give the U.S. credit for anything.  I'd call you armchair quarterbacks but you bozos don't know about real football

Near that, my comments are very light, real very.

@Aculias, I am not french. Half russian, half romanian, just immigrated here after my twenties. And I already regret it

But see, I don't have a problem with all of you people (Like Gootch seems to), I have a problem with you, specifically, saying that none of us care for life at all, and that no matter who we are, we will chose war before diplomacy.

As I said before, I never heard of Osama's speeches or calls for diplomacy. Next to -1 of us did. Stop generalizing. Gootch is responsible for his own actions/ words, and I'm asking you to please be responsible for yours. This does not have to be another flame war.

Cor, please stop antagonizing him further.

My post about old Europe and consequences was addressed to Gotch asinine comment, but Cor took it as me preaching against America, which was not in my intention. Sometimes, writing in not native language gives less opportunities to choose the right adjective.

It was rather insulting... But if you just didn't know what the right words are then I guess I could forgive you.

But seriously, if that was the problem, then try sending an HCM to one of us native speakers to preview if it would be insulting until you fully get the hang of the language. It'll help avoid situations like this in the future.

This is a debatable thread as well.
If there are differences then let it out.

Gnomes, stop being such a wimp

Yea i figured you was talking about Gootch.
In generalizing, every country has their own rules & the general people will exploit it.
If that means for example women, sitting on their butts. Not working or doing anything because they dont have to, they will.
men & women hurt their pinky, they call in sick.
They sick, they call in sick.

So pickyness can result in flame wars.
Even the smallest of things can get heated.

OFFTOPIC: I love how most HC members whose first language isn't English always mention that they might not express themselves to the best of their ability due to "bad English". Let me just tell you that, while also being a native Polish speaker, your knowledge of English is far better and more anvanced than 90% of the UK's population. It has truly amazed me how native users of such a simple language can use it so incorrectly and have such a limited vocabulary.

As for this idiotic "nation" challenge: for me the nations are the same, as they are composed with identical race of people, and politics are always about getting the most for me/us, so it's pretty obvious that the world's strongest country will jerk others around and act superior. Why? Because it can. It's not that any other country in its position wouldn't.

There are two kinds of clueless people, also here in this thread: one that thinks their country is different, second that thinks other countries are different.

While you may have a point as far as foreign policy goes, I don't think it's true in all respects. Institutions, habits, and customs matter. Why is Poland so much more corrupt than the US? Why is Russia more corrupt than Poland? Etc. In some countries, people can get away with things they would never be able to do in others.

Usually the poorer the country, the bigger the corruption, which is understandable. Russia is unique because of the unique situation it got inself into after soviet union collapse.

the country and the people aren't different at all. The situation is.

To clarify what I meant: People hate America, but what is "America", exactly? The soil? Well, ground can't be taken responsible. The people? They are like everywhere else. The politicians? Again, in their position, every government would be the same; trying to secure their position via superior military. I don't get the hate, neither America is different, nor the haters' country would be different in position of America.

So you think the only difference between the US and Poland is one of wealth? If every Pole became twice as productive, Poland would be the same as the US? Don't you think there are deeper causes behind that? I think the differences run deeper than that - institutions, habits, and customs matter. Yes, there's some truth in the statement that people are the same everywhere - but how far can we take that? If people are the same everywhere, why is there more murder in the ghetto than in the suburbs? Or suppose you had a choice between living on an island populated by a thousand randomly selected Americans or a thousand Belizians. Would you claim that it doesn't matter which you pick?

Difference in parenting (or lack of it), current social situation, and such. Deep down all humans are the same though. Exactly the reason why there should be no ridiculous xenophobia out there.

As for which would I pick: I don't know, friendly people and buttholes can be everywhere, among all nations. I'd rather look for material and/or social situation in the region, not the nationality of inhabitants.

DoomForge, I don't think it is entirely true. In theory yes, but the evolution of a specific culture creates different behaviors, which tends with time to become unique to each country.

Bin Laden is the natural product of the imperialistic foreign politic handled by USA in the last decades. Him self defines as such, and it is not so hard to collect evidence. Of course, it is easier for americains just to eliminate him and cheer his death, then continue exactly in the same way as before, thus creating another or more than one Bin Laden, which will be hunted and eliminated as well.

Still waiting to read someone's comments here about: "What should we change to avoid such monstrosities occur?". But none, nobody seems believing something was utterly wrong. My bad if raising this problem makes you automatically think  "he is american hater so I don't listen". Then don't and history will repeat again.

Bin Laden is like thousands other fanatics, only given power and money. My neighbors were fanatical antisemitic, they blamed Jews for everything and said times when Hitler reigned were the best (they were both 70 yo). If such people were given power and money of BinLaden, they would certainly not hesitate to kill. We're surrounded with people like him in every culture, we just don't notice it so much cause they don't have a chance to do anything big, and usually are cowards in addition, hiding their opinions in fear of being penalized or simply smacked in the face, hard.

Yes, US is imperialistic. But hey, wouldn't France, or even Poland be the same in US place? Why are we blaming the Americans, as if our countries were any different in the past when they had more presence.

Hopefully, it is a long way between a racist position and criminal action, if it wasn't we would have criminals at each street corner. Usually those are the result of being excessively and repeatedly hurt, freedom privacy, denial of religious convictions or simply fight the powerful oppressor.
