Treant as a champion? For some reason it isn't appealing to me
Phoenix + a new creature would be perfect to me. Something original, not a dragon

Phoenix are beings of Fire, that would probably play more into Fortress, but aint a lot of birds underground. Heh, a phoenix bat, that'd be cool.
Anyways, i think Academy already has Dibs on the phoenix/arcane bird

I am pretty positive that Treant will be another Champion as everything else seems much weaker and they were almost second Champion unit in Heroes 5 with how high their HP and defense was.
If we consider that Dryad, Hunter and Blade Dancer(or some other unit alike) are Cores, Unicorn and Druid are Elites, we need third Elite that is not mounted, some fast walker/cavalry when we have Unicorns already. But maybe they will replace the Unicorns with Lynx Riders and add something else, who knows.
Please, no blade dancers. Lynx riders would replace them just well.

Phoenixes are sacred to Asha according to the current lore, so they would belong to no faction. Not even Necropolis as they Phoenix represents birth and rebirth, rather then their beloved death.

Well Academy seems to have Magic Bird/Arcane Bird for a Champion unit, kind of resembles a blue fire phoenix so i was just guessing it was something like that.
may not be accurate though.

Nostalgia aside, Phoenixes never quite fitted into an Elven town. Well, back in H2 it was the Sorceress town so it was sth different, but in my opinion H3 set something of a standard for Elven town, in which I see no place for Phoenixes.
Now I wonder if the devs could try something a little different with dragons. Maybe make them a bit more similar to the dragon gods. Make them more savage, elemental, primeval in nature. Not your traditional scaly D&D dragons. In this way Sylvan would get an Earth Golem like Dragon...

I disagree.
In many fantasy strategy games, Elven factions often represent life, precisely because of their affinity with nature. Age of Wonders, Lords of Magic, Disciples, even Heroes- they all carry that Elven/Life binary stereotype.
The Sorceress town was no different. H2, specfically, operated under binaries. Knight (Civilization/Order) VS Barbarian (Chaos, Primacy), Warlock (Dark Arcane) VS Wizard (Light Arcane), Necromancer (Death & Decay) VS Sorceress (Life & Nature).
As Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth and a promise of life, it fits well, at least thematically, into what nature represents. Fire is often perceived as a harbinger of doom, but as water can be just as destructive, so is fire an element that is just as capable of providing life.
The Rampart made a slight shift in thematic focus, true... but by no means did it set an image standard. Phoenixes returned in 4, and although it wasn't part of the Sylvan lineup in 5, the game did deal with a totally new universe.
I'd love if Phoenixes returned to the Nature lineup. Enemies will have to decide whether to go after the vanguard units first or take care of the pesky Phoenixes that can rise again on the spot. Their speed also fits with the Elven fast-strike guerrilla tactics.
That said, I wouldn't be gutted if they didn't return. As long as there are good champions to choose from. But we'll see with the upcoming polls, hehe.

The Elves worship the Dragon of Earth so I just don't see how the Phoenix would fit there. It's obvious Ubi turned Phoenix into a unit that does not fit into any lineup. So the most likely scenario is adding the lynx rider and making the Treant a champion...

As it should, as in the real world male are dominant most of the time, in the fantasy world, banshees, vouivre, batibat and succubi destroy human males and orcs, dwarves and all other all-male pathetic creatures too easily.
I hope the town only has 2 elves, one male druid and one female hunter, for the rest I really wanna see Cu Sith.

I resent this, Dwarves are not lustful people nor are they attracted to outide races, you RARELY see any form of half-dwarf. The only exception would be the Dwarven Succubi of Age of Wonders 3, but who could resist that?

Treants as champions will be awesome and will probably be among my favorite champions even though I don't like Sylvan that much.

Cu Sith is a green dog that controlls nature/plants, nothing to do with a boring, normal wolf at all.
I hope the treants are replaced by the Kapre or Jinmenju.
