The comparison is very relevant, of course. It is all about the common muslim behavior and principles. He comes from a country in which nothing is allowed outside his religion, and he wants it to be the same in the country he immigrated. This is a message as: forget your divine laws, they make no sense here, outside your private area (home and mosques).
