So it's not an actual new dragon...
I was hoping for an excuse to introducing a new 10th faction

She teaches him the higher form of power. After obtaining this knowledge Sar-Elam Became the seventh dragon.
Basicclyhe is a human who had spoken and learned from the Primordial dragon of order
And he became a (demi)God in the process. Sar-Elam was the one who sealed the Demons in Sheogh and died in the process of doing so. The Orders of both Dragon Knights and of Blind Brothers are founded by his disciples.

Thanks for the answers ^^
So, the academy habitants are the 7th dragon "sons"?
that makes:
Primordial dragon of order -> Necropolis (Well, not only, but they are the ones who worship Asha).
Primordial dragon of chaos -> Inferno
Fire Dragon -> Fortress
Water Dragon -> Sanctuary
Earth Dragon -> Sylvan
Air Dragon -> some neutral groups
Light Dragon -> Haven
Shadow Dragon -> Dungeon
7th Dragon -> Academy
N/A -> Stronghold
So... acording to the way H5 and H6 are, there's no chance there will be a 10th faction unless the creatures are atheist. That's sad.
But also, since H6 seems to give more importance to the dragons gods, there's a bigger chance for Dwarves to appear.
EDIT: thanks Nelgirith. I think next time I play H5 I will need to actually see the cutscenes and read the texts

No, the 7 cities don't worship any dragon, they're kinda agnostic.

The "free cities" are the followers of the air dragon. Humans that did not want to follow the angels and the dragon of light. That sounds like a potential faction to me, and then you have the 10 factions in that list followers of all the elemental dragons plus some additional :
1. Necromancers (Asha/Order)
2. Haven (light)
3 .Dungeon (dark)
4. Dwarves (fire)
6. Naga (water)
6. "The free cities" (wind)
7. Elves (earth)
8. Wizards (whatever they follow)
9. Inferno (Chaos)
10. Orcs (some tribal stuff)

That's not exactly the case. The Wizards of the academy don't worship the Dragons as gods true. But they do not deny their existence or power. They see the power of a Dragongod as something everyone could achieve with enough study and dedication. They would ultimately like to become Gods themselves, like Sar-Elam in the past.
The dedication chart should be like this:
Asha, Dragon of Order -> Necropolis(Only the Death-aspect), Dragon Knights, Blind Brothers
Urgash, Dragon of Chaos -> Demons, mortal Cultists.
Elrath, Dragon of Light -> Angels, Humans of the Holy Empire
Malassa, Dragon of Shadow -> Faceless(those few that are left), Dark Elves, Minotaurs presumably
Arkath, Dragon of Fire -> Dwarves
Sylanna, Dragon of Earth -> Elves
Ylath, Dragon of Air -> Humans of the Free Cities, barbaric Human tribes
Shalassa, Dragon of Water -> Naga
Then there are the Wizard who have a unique view of Godhood and the achieveablity of it. They want to become Gods
The Orcs who worship their own Gods: Mother Earth and Father Sky. How these Gods stand in relation to the Dragongods is unknown. The Orcs recognise the DragonGods but claim that their Gods are different.
As for the Free Cities, they are said not to be a faction in the past. They are too independant of eachother and they will not form a cohesive faction because of frequent infighting. So was claimed by Xhane's predecesor who's name I can't remember just now.

Oh, i didnīt know that. Although...i read somewhere that they had stated that there are 10 factions in the world of Ashan. We now know of 9, and among those we are missing followers of the elemental dragon of air. So I just figured that since the lore speaks of the "free cities" as the followers of the dragon of air that would be an potential faction. Perhaps in a future installment of the series a strong leader will unite the free cities under one rule i guess it would have to take place after H5 in the timeline though.

No, they only stated there have been 10 factions through ALL the HoMM games :
1. Castle (H1/2/3) - Haven (H4/5/6)
2. Barbarian (H1/2) - Stronghold (H3/4/5/6)
3. Warlock (H1/2) - Dungeon (H3/5) - Asylum (H4)
4. Sorceress (H1/2) - Rampart (H3) - Sylvan (H4/5)
5. Wizard (H2) - Tower (H3) - Academy (H4/5)
6. Necromancer (H2) - Necropolis (H3/4/5/6)
7. Inferno (H3/5/6)
8. Fortress H3
9. Conflux H3

That would be Fabrice I assume. And actually, wasn't it the Orcs that were too divided to form a faction (at the time of H5 vanilla), or was that also said about the Free Cities?

That was indeed Fabrice. And no. I am sure that that particular question was about the Free Cities and not about the Orcs.
They did however ask if the Orcs worshipped Ylath, as there was spoken of the Barbarian tribes who did so. Fabrice then said that they were Human barbarians and not Orcs.

Both Conflux and Rampart succeeded the Sorceress faction of H2.
Rampart had Dwarves, Elves and Unicorns.
Conflux had Sprites and Phoenixes.

Yeah, and H5 Fortress was also an evolution of the Sorceress because it had Dwarves, right ?

Quote: there's already a construct based town, its called the academy. golems, gargoyles and titans are all constructs.
It also has Djinn and Rakshasas, making it only partly a Construct town, mine would be more or less completely a construct town, at least lore-wise.
Also, the H4 Elven town was Preserve, not Sylvan.

the orcs worship the dragon of the air. they made reference to this several times in tribes of the east. father sky i believe his name was. that's the air dragon.
@matt: a complete construct town? can u really think up that many units that wouldn't clash with the existing academy? my only guess of a faction that no one knows what it consists of is the faceless. maybe u might wanna consider creating a faceless town? something having to do with the primordial dragon of the void which i just made up 5 seconds ago...
