It's strange that only after palying ME1 & 2 so many times (and more notably played 'the lair of the Shadow Broker') I considered compiling a list of possible allies and enemies that I can rely on in the third installment. I'm looking forward to seeing the council's 'Special Tactics and Reconnaissance' division at work, that is if those SOBs for the first time decide to lend me a hand otherwise 'Operation nuke the council back to the stoneage' shall commence.

(P.S I love the word 'Reconnaissance')

I do find it strange that the Reaper invasion starts of at earth...

If they went to the citadel and raped everybody there, every organic race would be effed up.No comm,no FTL,nothing...
The reapers would win.
Not to mention that no civ is preparing for the reapers.Earth got caught of with no defense.
Really,is this a plot hole? I think they really ruined themselves here.

Typical "Derp shepperd u moost saev eertth! ey gun kill all!" BS.

And uuh, why can't the reapers spread out their invasion forces? I mean, 1 reaper carries the firepower of a battleship fleet

Did you guys miss the comic I linked in the comic thread?

Just adding it here in case.

TBH I don't really like playing space games but Mass Effect is fun to watch sometimes because it's so cinematic at the main story parts.

Played the demo, was not impressed.

Cons:

The horrible controls are still there. Died ten times due to being stuck to a wall, a ledge, a flowerpot, a table or a window. Not a good way to go.

There's still ammo, and it still runs out at easiest enemies on insanity.

Melee is too powerless, especially the loaded melee. Can't one-hit even the easiest enemies from stealth.

Shotgun max-range is IN YOUR snowING FACE.

Wussy wrex

Story is lacking, greatly lacking.

I though Ashley was brown. Now she's all goth.

Escort missions

Few times the controls and the camera bugged. I got a nice view of the planet vegetation 1km away from my character.

Pros:
Sweetspots for enemies, head, gas tank, etc.

BTW. Where was sniper?

Seems like another ME2 but let's not judge outright, right?

Did we play the same game? O.o

Yeah, the controls take a little bit of time to get used too but I had no problems after a while. Multiplayer is a great way to learn to roll correctly (since you need to roll around all the time).

Ammo running out on insanity, I don't think you're playing insanity right then.

I loved the melee. Obviously you should not be able to just one-shot people on higher difficulties. The melee is a great addition and it just feels so satisfying.

Shotgun is shotgun.

Story lacking? It's one and a half missions!
looots of spoilery content was cut in the demo
you can't judge the story based on it though I am disappointed that the trial was scrapped

I hate the new sexist Ashley too.

What do you mean by escort missions?
Anderson following you around? I didn't see any problem with that.

I am confident that ME3 will be the best in the series. There are things I don't like such as the pointless Gears of War fanservice character James Vega but overall, they seem to combine and improve the RPG elements from ME1 with the combat from ME2.
And even the combat is better, with melee and rolling around etc. It feels a lot more fluid and the enemies are a lot more interesting than the old Mercenary or Geth number 21342.

I think he means escorting the obese krogan.

Also I thought the overheat weapon system was great and advanced. (with two rail extensions it kept me on my toes )

No problems with rolling. It's problems when I don't want to roll. Or jump. Or get stuck to a fricking flowerpot when a missile is heading my way!
This has been a problem since the first game and it's still there, why? It's rather easy to fix for assigning different keys for actions but no, keep stuck in the old ones.

Yes, ammo does run out on insanity. The mech boss took all my SMG, Assault Rifle and Pistol rounds.
I see no reason why to go for the ammo when the overheating system worked perfectly in the first game and the ammo one got only bad feedback from everyone.

Obviously you should be able to one-shot enemies on highest difficulty. The regular melee damage is not a problem but the loaded one is. Give me a knife and even I'll do better than that! What's the use in sneaking behind someone if you can't kill them?
Now it's like: Sneak behind enemy lines, hit the rear guard and proceed to shoot him to death hoping all the twenty other guys won't kill you while you're defenseless.
It should be like: Sneak behind enemy lines, take out the rear guard, CROSSFIRE ANNIHILATION!

Shotgun is a fricking joke. What use is a gun that does less damage and has less range than your melee?

Story and characters seem very weak. There is a universe threatening disaster around and people go hunting for a single woman? Seriously? Should I take it as an insult towards the story or the characters? Either way it's ridiculously stupid.
Also, I was not impressed with the weak dialogue options. They all seem pretty much the same, though this might be an intro thing.

Why go and change existing characters? Is that like a mark of bioware now? We have DA2 with isabelle and we have ME3 with Ashley, just, why? Did they have plastic surgery to avoid the mafia? Changing your name might have helped more, hello?

By escort missions I mean the krogan. If you have escort missions, make sure your escortee is someone you can order. Basic rule for any escort.

I'd take Geth 21342 over Cerberus a,c,ce any day. At least they looked different. These are all just some random blob of white mass. What's up with that anyways? Somebody forgot to paint their armour?

Oh and human superiority terrorist group working for aliens, what is this I don't even...?

Didn't really get to see the inventory and character progression in the demo but I have a feeling it sucks just like it did in the second one. There were more upgrades for weapons lying around at least so that's a good sign. On the other hand, none of them seemed customization options.

Agreed about the overheating system, that one was way superior.

Sure, you could customize your weapons to a point where you could blast away without even caring about overheating, but that was a balance issue and not a design issue.

No lore logic in going from a practically infinite ammo system to a limited one either...

Mayhaps once you run out of thermal clips it reverts to the old system, that could work on all accounts imo. (Thermal clips are there to prevent malfunctions & overheating) By right, you should still be able to fire your gun.

But the intention of the heavy melee is not for you on Insantiy to be able to sneak up on enemies one by one and one-shot them with it.

The krogan female is not just a "single woman". Did you follow the story on the genophage? A fertile krogan woman is a huuuuuuuge deal and she is pretty much a bargaining chip to gain crucial Krogan support in the war. We know from previous footage that a lot of (story) content was cut from the Sur'kesh DEMO because they do not want to spoil the story.

Also I still don't get your critiscm on the "escort" mission.
The krogan lady is in a cage, controlled by Mordin. It's hard to order her when she's stuck in a cage.
I don't get what you would want that mission to be like.

By escort missions I mean the krogan. If you have escort missions, make sure your escortee is someone you can order. Basic rule for any escort.

I don't think the Geth and especially not the Mercenaries looked much different from one another than the Cerberus people. There is variation in Cerberus. You got the Engineer with his backpack and turret, the Praetorian with his huge shield, the normal assault trooper and the sword dancing Phantom etc. They play a lot differently than the Geth and Mercenaris did.
There were pretty much two types of Mercenaries in ME2, Assault troopers and rocket launching guys. For the Geth there was some variation but there will be lots of Geth enemies in ME3 too.

Cerberus is not a racist group, why would they not be able to work with aliens? In ME1 Ashley was more concerned with aliens on the ship than anyone of the Cerberus people in ME2. .

The ME1 inventory was terrible.
Character progression looks great in ME3. It was kind of lame in ME2, but in ME3 its really advanced and customizable. The power/progression system looks better than ME1.

Also you can customize your weapons in ME3 and change their looks as you add new parts to them etc.
