Quote: Fabulous soundtrack... I know Americans are fond of hyperbole. Which specific (youtube) MOMH6 tracks are fabulous in the way Heroes2 or Heroes3 ones are ? Which ones are quite catchy ? Which ones will be used by war documentaries on TV or South Park ? Please tell me :-).
Well, I consider the music that plays when you set map settings really, really sweet. If it's still the same track, that is.

You know I actually prefer h3 and h4 graphics. Half the time in h5 and h6 I can't tell if I can get through and area or if I can click on something. I guess I don't really care a whole lot about graphics as long as the gameplay is great. Old school RPGs were so much better with terrible graphics because they were actually fun. Now in Dragon Age and others I feel like I am playing a 3D movie and just clicking option a, b or c. Games these days have more visual stimulation but less problem solving stimulation.

Americans, english speakers, it's all the same. All fond of hyperbole. They casually throw around words like "beautiful", "gorgeous" (especially web designers), "awesome", "amazing", "incredible" and more. Then when something actually is amazing, they run out of words and... I guess... have to resort to obscene language ?

Good point
Even H1 and H2 I prefer to H3....old school strategy games.....the AI were simpler, so beater in a sense.....

@B0rsuk
Well for one point I do may have a low standard. I'm not a hard-core player. Just a Casual one, and I only play M&M games (60% of the time)
But I do not belive that a modern game is published whitout any bugs. Especialy a Game as complicated as H6. This is not an FPS or a Racenig game, whos mechanics are in my eyes more simple (But I do not play them so I can be wrong). There are many more issues to consider in such a Game.
And even when I asked for one game that was published Bug-free o gote one answer that could be acceptable not by me, but by he people that played that game. And since there are hundreds uf such games comming out every year, I do not consider something under 1% a number with high impect.

Quote: The combat is too slow against typical weak neutrals for my taste. It's pace in player battle, I'd rate it much higher than Crazy pace of HoMM V which was all about the first strike and after that the battle was pretty much solved.
I miss content. More castles, more artifacts, more spells. I realize this is due to financial difficulties and will be "fixed" in expansions, but as a stand alone game , HoMM 6 is just small.
isnt H6 supposed to be mod friendly tho? adding artifacts and even a mage tower / adding other buildings , changing the skill trees should all be possible right?

I am annoyed by balance issues. Necropolis was grossly overpowered in beta from the day 1, and judging by people's comments here, it still is. Inferno is claimed to be UP since day 1 too and no real buffs happened. Might heroes still suck.
people always complain necro is op people just hate necromancers and besides after what they did to necro in ToE they desearve a bit of their former glory.

@B0rsuk: I do not casually throw words like 'fabulous' around. Yes, it may not seem so to You, given that this is a HoMM board, and I've only shared my opinion of the HoMM games here, which incidentally all have soundtracks of a superior quality, but rest assured, I'm not one to exaggerate. What specific tracks did I have in mind, when I stated that H6's soundtrack is fabulous? The lazy answer would be 'All of them! ', but that would be immature to say the least. The tracks I enjoy most, are (in no particular order):
-The Last Stand of Pavel Griffin
-Fighting the Waves
-What's in a Name?
-The Alchemy of Grief
-Sanctuary Theme
-Stronghold Theme
-Inferno Theme
-Flight of the Griffin
-A Hero With No Name
-Autumn is Coming
In addition to these, the 'legacy tracks' are of course excellent as well, particularly the remix of the H2 Sea Theme, but much like Ubisoft, I do not consider them to be a true part of H6's soundtrack.
Perhaps now You can see why I dared to call the soundtrack 'fabulous'.
When a game's soundtrack is so good, that it eclipses the actual game(As it is the case since H4), and/or it can be considered a masterpiece by itself(Case in point: H2, H3, H6), I think it deserves to be described with the aid of superlatives.
PS: I'm most definitely not American. Wrong continent, dude! When in doubt, check the little things; preferred slang, whether the poster writes in British or American English, etc...

Only good thing i found on heroes 6 was graphics, si u stated it first, then i stated what i dislike, what would change if i tell what i dislike first ?

@Magissia, my comment was not aimed at you & I started writing the post before you posted...it was a general statement on other people's & reviewers' comments too, just that graphics is nowhere near a priority for a strategy game for me (well it is called tbs) low priority to me means listing it last or not list it at all...the thing that bothers me is wrong priority of choosing where to focus the effort/expense to make the game great.

You are right here but you must take into account that for them the only kind of greatness that matters is the financial one . Nice graphics brings new people lol.

takes all sorts doesn't it?
make really great townscreens & the game would be a HUGE success right now
well there's even those that like the conflux stuff as if that's got real strategic meaning & oppose making all heroes available in offline mode

Perhaps when people say "graphics" they don't strictly mean texture or model quality, but the overall atmosphere, which, especially for a fantasy game, is quite important.

Yeah, about that...
As a matter of fact, the graphics of Heroes VI probably could not be any worse.
This be 2011, you know?
Sure, from high up above they look good. But zoom in and I go "eeew!!!".
Especially the cutscenes... God, they're ridiculous and a pain to watch. If I wasn't a fan of the series, the cutscenes alone would have made me not give a chance to the game.
Like in the scene where Anastasya kills Slava. God, it felt like I was watching a Z-rated movie.
But what do you expect from a no-budget game which is still in beta even after release?
I was playing the Haven campaign this day, and I was fighting in the battlefields with obstacles that have not yet been finished! Some grey things that are called simply "Obstacle 1x1".
FFS, even after so many delays, we get things like that in the game?? I don't know but I haven't seen this in any other game before.

@einomida, I rest my case [see just above]
anyway I'm out of this thread as I don't want to read any spoilers for the campaigns that I might play in a few months time.
