MoD is complete stupid and unbalance game more.

1. Invisibility ability of stalker and shadow mistress reduced from 3 to 2 turns.

Dungeon is not most strong race. This change not improve dungeon just make him less good. Here need General change.

3. Flaming arrows/triple ballista now have slightly changed prerequisites (similar to original TOTE demon skillwheel):

This part from MoD is pure idiotic. War Macnines combo+Flaming arrows are used main for short maps. Now you can get it with no native WM hero on lvl ~20+ what is very unbalance and make this way for play sure loss. Other big problem is new suck reqest for up skills.

4. Warpath bonus reduced from 350 movement points to 122.5 points.

This change make new ubalance in game. In original ToTe you need to choice Warpath or Swif mind. Now all will go for second skill and its better for no mage races too.

If you like this stupid unbalanced MoD play it Strider...but dont use my name in your post. All know you like MoD and I don't.

No need to sticky it Strider, just post something like "Elit is a nice fella" or "Elit once supported 2 turn invisibility" once in a while, and in 2 seconds Elit has responded and we are on again.

Its progress Fraudatio. All what i'm tell is true. Dungeon is not most strong race and what we do in MoD is to make him more weak. If we pretend for balance need be real not fake.

No point to argue with ppl who never give arguments and just blame other for his different view.
Who want to use MoD lets use it is his choice. I dont like it, its not baanced and will not use.

I believe this thread might work the best if made "sticky". If any new players enter the community I doubt they would wander around our vast forum. Perhaps, Ves, you could help with "sticky" thing?

Dont see why new players need bother with this MoD. Not only because i think its bad and bring new imbalances.
New players need to try original game and learn all aspect from it. MoD cant give them chance to learn all "secret" tacticks

Sorry for dredging up the old post here, but just wanted to know if the MOD is currently being used by all players?

(just need to know if I need to d'load it before I start playing again).

Also...I'm pretty much a newbie to HOMM V, but here are my opinions on the mod:

(1):  Initiative lowering: Not necessary / reduction of invisibility is good idea.

(2): D.V: It appears universal that this needs to be fixed...a level 4 spell that much more damage than a level 5 spell (implosion) even at low spell power...c'mon!  Looking at the math a bit:

Suppose you kill a low amount of creatures, say 40 sprites and ONLY have adv. light magic:
At a modest spell power of 5 it equivalent to a power level 9 implosion (~400 damage)…under the mod the it is reduced down to be a level 4 implosion (~200)

So in this case the mod looks good:  5 spell power level 4 spell is equivalent to 4 spell power level 5 spell.  

If you have EXPERT adv. light, the mod now has comparison of a 5 spell power DV = 6 spell power implosion:
Conclusion:  it’s closer, but D.V. still overpowered

Let’s consider the same situation with middle spell power…say 12.
Un-modded adv:  spell power 12 DV = spell power 12 IMP
Modded adv: 12 DV = 6 IMP
Un-modded exp: 12 DV = 20 IMP
Modded exp: 12 DV = 9 IMP

This is about the only conditions mod looks great for.

If we switch to killing a moderate to high stack, say 60 hellhounds, just comparing expert light with expert destructive now:
Spell power: 4
Un-modded: 4 DV = 27 Implosion (1120 damage)
Modded: 4 DV = 13 Implosion (560 damage)

Spell power: 12
Un-modded: 12 DV = 43 implosion
Modded: 12 DV = 21 implosion

Result: Still way over powered, when a lvl 4 spell is more than 2X powerful a lvl 5 spell.

If I were to tweak it, I would modify it slightly so that (at expert):
(F/1.5)*(30+3*P)  
The result is DV requires a bit more killings to become effective.  In low spell powers (i.e. 1-3) it is comparable to implosion (slightly better), but not enough to ballistically kill.
In moderate spell powers (i.e. 4-12) it lags a little behind implosion (about 75-95%).  A
t high spell powers, implosion actually becomes the more powerful spell…as a level 5 it should be.

(3): Ballista:  This isn't crucial in my opinion, but I'm not adamant about saying it not be changed.

(4): Warpath: Not too much experience with it...but if experienced players think a reduction is in order, I'd trust them (which appears most do).

So....

Do I need to D'load the "patch"? and is what is currently listed the "final verdict" or has it been modified since?

Nope, only ~10 games have been played using TOH MOD. My own reference is that it's a necessity and those games were more balanced. However, rest of community did not take liking of it or were just too lazy

TOH MOD is already a finished product and you can see in the very first post of this thread what it comprises.

Try it with you friends and evaluate what is better - 3.0 or 3.0 with just a few but very essential changes. Take care

Once I find some players who like random maps...I'll be sure to try it with them.

If it really does balance game better....seems like the new season would be a good time to go "TOH-global" with it.

What did you think about the further tweak of DV?

I think the slight reduction makes it much less of a "game breaker".  

Although it is such a silly spell altogether considering the different maps where creatures are plentiful almost no amount of nerfing will stop it from being a "final battle" killer.

I doubt it... although many players took part in very long discussions designing this MOD they don't use it. But TOH in H5 is known for resistance to any new ideas. On the other hand, HeroesLeague plays almost only with their own MOD.

In general, people agreed that there are many IMBAS in H5. But whether they do smth about it strongly varies among communities. As for further tweaks, then there were suggested around 20 areas for improvement but the final TOH MOD version includes only 5 - it's a result of inability to find consensus within the community.

Conclusion, for this MOD to work you just need to play it. If some of very active players will show example, rest might follow. I hope you will be active

This show only how different are Heroes 5 communities ...
Here, another example - UBI server, no mod, time limit 2-5 min, almost only Nival native maps played... If i look what maps are played at the moment i get ~ 5 games on Dragon Pass, 5 on Subterranean Treasures, 4 on Key to Victory, 3 on RMG, etc ... And UBI server is biggest Heroes 5 community... TOH or HeroesLeague is empty compared to UBI server ...

Played this days game on UBI server without time limit, i finished my turn and say "s". My opponent ask my - are you Buxyrs from TOH ? me - no, why do you think i Buxyrs ? opponent - only TOH players says "s - sent" at the end of the turn

About balance - maybe game is more balanced on maps with heroes level 1-20 ? Why i think so ? Duel heroes are level 15, and on Nival multiplayer maps main hero get usually  maximum level 20 ... So maybe Nival done more balance tests in this conditions ...
