"Sorry, just a bit preoccupied, my love." They finally got the cannon to the ship's hold. Simon leaned on it heavily.
"You know what," Simon said after some panting, "Hervin probably expects me to be doing something by now." He looked up into Lianna's eyes, "And I, for one, would hate to disappoint him." Simon began to take his Lute off of his back, climbing up some of the loaded crates.
"Elven or human?" He asked the pirates below him.

They all yelled out both, but humans, being louder, managed to get their voices heard more.
"HUMAN! HUMAN! HUMAN!" drowned out the softer cries of "Elven! Elven! Elven!" easily.

Hervin was passed on the way to the hold by Alaric. The human sniper was holding his rifle and muttering, "I swear that that man couldn't just wait for twelve minutes to unleash hell if death were standing above him. Lianna being here just doesn't help..."
Hervin was soon lagging far behind, unable to hear the rest of Alaric's rant.

After examining his new working and living place, Geralt went up on deck to wait for the captain. He took a small bottle with a faint blue liquid and took a gulp of it. After that, he started stuffing a long pipe with strange dried leaves.

Eduardo ran the maths in his head as he untied his horse, in the hour he would have to wait for the captain he would not have enough time to pick up his belongings. He had stayed to the plantation of his sister and her husband for the past two weeks and that was a quite a bit away from the town. Eduardo would go to the ship first and pick up his belongings later.
A few moments later Eduardo arrived at the docks and after he had found dock 12 he regarded the moored brigantine there. The ship had seen better days and had been adapted for pirating, but he had seen many a ship in much worse condition.
Seeing the ship being loaded, Eduardo wondered how long the ship would stay docked.
He got off his horse and tied the reins loosly to a nearby bollard. He left hand resting on the pommel of his sabre, he strode up the gangplank and grabbed the first lolligaging sailor by the scruff of his neck.
"Tell your Quartermaster that your new Gunchief is here to see him."

The half-elf blinked in suprise as he was completely and utterly ignored. Shrugging, he sat down in a corner and bought a drink. An hour later, he went off to Pier 12, to see if he got better results there.

Edwardo and the Half-elf both heared what seemed to be music singing and people dancing coming from the cargo hold. They could see the dim figure of a single man standing at the entrance with a gun, who seemed to be trying to get the attention of someone inside. Unsuccessfully, I might add. Another man came barreling up behind the armed man as well. Neither seemed very happy about the way things were going.

A voice behind Eduardo said, "There's no need."
Eduardo turned to see captain Arcturus with his hands at his hips, close to where his dirks are. Behind him was the navigator, Bellerusse, and the Raid Chief, Nurgunnen.
"I am the captain of this vessel. My name is Arcturus Vorschaw. State your name and business or get out of my sight!"
"Er, captain...there seems to be a problem up there." said Nurgunnen as he pointed at Alaric and the other man.
Arcturus exasperated and then said to Eduardo, "One second, accompany us if you wish."
They strode up to the two pirates and Arcturus then said, "What's the deal here?"

"I swear that I'll shoot you if you don't come down from there Si-" Alaric stopped trying to get Simon's attention and smartly snapped to attention when it registered that the Captain was speaking to him. "Sir! I hope that the meeting went well Sir! We have picked up someone who might cause problems with they way the ship is run, Sir!"
The news that the captain was back spread like wildfire throughout the crew, and all of them quickly settled down. Simon stopped playing and yelled from the top of the crates, "Well there he is! The famed Captain of the Revenant Arcturus himself! And how is the old bear this fine evening?"

Arturus growled and slammed Alaric against a nearby wall and yelled, "WHAT THE HELL GAVE YOU THE IDEA THAT YOU COULD GO OVER MY HEAD AND DISCIPLINE HIM YOURSELF!?
Alaric stuttered, trying to explain something, but Arcturus cut him off by saying, "IF YOU HAVE A DAMN PROBLEM THEN YOU REPORT IT TO AN OFFICER! YOU DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF!"
He then turned to Nurgunnen and said, "Take away his weapons and send him to the brig. I'll hold his pay and quarter his rations for a week. After that he'll be released."
Nurgunnen and a couple of his loyal raiders grabbed Alaric and dragged him off. Arcturus then looked at Simon and said, "Welcome back, coward. Now get you and your snow off that pile of crates and get to work! ALONG WITH THE REST OF YOU!"
The crew started scrambling as Simon and Lianna just stood there for a second in disbelief. Arturus started to walk away but quickly turned, pulled out his twin barreled pistol and shot the lyre, completely breaking it. Then he walked back out onto the deck with Bellerusse and Eduardo as the crew fell silent. They quickly got to work though so that they didn't arouse Arcturus's fury.

Lianna raised an eyebrow and said, "He's never happy. You know that. I only think he was so angry right now because he probably got bad news from whoever he was talking about. Anyways, we better get to work before your other instrument (his voice) gets shot."

Holding his hand to his throat, Simon nodded. He could feel that any good mood that he had made had been shattered by the captains actions, and the crew was slightly hostile again. The rest of that day Simon didn't try to do anything out of the ordinary, though he did collect some of the pieces of wood from his lyre, and the strings.

Davaian and Kalthak came aboard then, meeting Avron along the way.
"Well hi thar!" greeted Kalthak cheerfully and drunkenly."Ya wanna join my ship and become a pirate!?"
"I'm afraid he's drunken one too many, my friend." said Davaian, who was supporting the Durok on his shoulders. "Sorry about that."
Kalthak chuckled a little bit and then threw up over the pier and collapsed.
"Well maybe more than one too many..." continued Davaian as he grimaced. "Hey, you mind helping me haul his heavy a$$ onto the ship?"

"Now that this is over with, let us get down to business. My name is Eduardo Calavera and I am your new Gunchief. I would like to know when you are going to set sail, as I have not yet had the time to pick up my belongings."

Eduardo looked at the sun and ran some quick calculations. The ride back and forth, the packing he needed to do.
"Probably the rest of the afternoon. I'm not staying in town, so I can be back at dusk at best."
Eduardo looked over the side of the ship.
"Seeing that it's low tide now, you may want to wait untill tonigh anyway."
