"Ha! Told her that you would like the knives better! But they are more than just perfectly balanced. When all of them are thrown, they will return to the owner... Though I haven't tried getting them to go back into their sheaths yet. They seem a bit unpredictable. The book is good, by the way, and I know how bored you get when you can only sit down and twiddle your thumbs." Simon hands both of his gifts to Davian. "Where is Kalthak, by the way? I have a... well, it's for him and him alone, and I have to take it to him personally. I promised her that much."

"Thank you, Davian. This will mean allot to him." Simon walks over to Kalthak's quarters and opens the door slowly, so as to not awaken the sleeping Durok. He creeps over to Kalthak, and pulls out a slip of paper, an envelope with Kalthak's family seal on it. He quickly wrights "Delivered by an old friend." on it with magic, and slips it under Kalthak's left arm. Stealthily, Simon leaves the Durok to his rest, closing the door behind him.

Simon walks over the deserted deck to his quarters, pausing a moment at the door he remembers that he needs a hammock. "Oh well," he mumbles to himself, "Looks like I get the floor tonight." He smiles as he opens the door and slips inside.

Eduardo raised his hand in greeting.
"I am coming, don't you worry." he called to the first mate, who's name had already slipped his mind.
Eduardo got of his horse and took the trunk he had been balancing on the way onto his shoulder. Due to the weight, his steel breastplate was pressing uncomfortably on his shoulder, but he would bear that for the time being. He could set it down on the ship soon enough. Eduardo turned to his nephew.
"Take good care of Black Thunder for me, ok Manny? And don't cause your mother to much trouble, you hear."
"What about my father?" Manny asked smiling.
"You can cause him all the trouble you want, just be good to your mother. I'll see you soon enough, little buddy."
With those words and a pat on his nephew's shoulder, Eduardo had said all the goodbyes he needed to. He strode up the gangplank and shook the hand of the first mate. He felt the bones of the other mans hand slightly bend bend out of place under the grip his leather gauntlets.
"Now where can I set this trunk down, compaņero?"

- Very well captain. Until then I do not wish to be disturbed.
Geralt went to his quarters. It had a hammock, a large table, several cabinets and a chair. On the table there was a large quill and several bottles of ink. He opened his chest and started to set up the alchemical aparatuses. After this was done, he opened his rucksack and took several journals covered in black and brown leathers. He ignited the lanterns using his own distlilled substitute for kerosene. It burned with a bright white fire, providing much more light.
Geralt took another sip of the blue liquid and took out several bottles with venom of the snakes from durok lands, rumored to be deadliest in the world. He also took several herb samples, and started working. He opened the journal entitled "Antidotes for all occasions" and scribbled: "Antidote for the Twin tongued viper venom".

"Ah, just go to the officers' quarters and take the hammock that isn't occupied, which unfortunately is right over Nurgunnen's. I'd suggest not talking to him much. He gets into a bad temper very often and when he does, he can be very violent. The last time someone pissed him off, that person lost an ear when Nurgunnen punched him. He may even be deadlier than the captain. Of course since you're an officer you can mock him a little bit and he won't bite simply because of the captain. We all do that. Just remember to not get him overboard, unless you are really getting him overboard." said Davaian to Eduardo. "You should put your belongings there and then report to the captain. In ten minutes he wants all officers in his study to plot our heading. I'll see you then."

Eduardo went to the officer's quarters and looked arround. Most hammock were covered with blankets and other sleeping atributes and like Davaian said, only one was empty. The one beneath it was stained with something and the floor beneath it was littered with weapons of various states of keenness. Nurgunnen obviously was not one to tidy up after himself.
Eduardo set the trunk down near the empty hammock after brushing away some knives that lay there. He unlocked the heavy padlock of his trunk and took out the saddle blanket and tossed it into the empty hammock. He took out some mastic gum and relocked the trunk. Eduardo started chewing on the sweetend gum, a habit he had built up to replace chewing tobacco some years ago.

A moment later Eduardo stepped into the captain's quarters.
"Hope I did not keep you waiting to long."
He pulled an empty chair towards him, turned in backwards and sat down.

Arcturus looked up from the maps on the table and said, "You arrived right on time. Good. Raid Chief Nurgunnen, Navigator Bellerusse, Doctor Geralt, and Quartermaster Hervin are here. We only have to wait for Davaian."

Just then Davaian entered. "Sorry I'm late. I had to break up an argument over who gets the bigger piece of chicken. Eventually Kalthak just took both. Now what's the plan, Arcturus? I suppose you'll want to explain it to the good Doctor and Eduardo so that they won't be completely clueless about your wild treasure hunt."

"Indeed." replied Arcturus. He took a deep breath and then said, "We are in search of an ancient Durok relic. However, it needs two parts. It took us a long time to find the first part, but the second part is not in a wilder Durok (savage island dwelling Durok) temple like before. It was discovered by the famous Fortrind explorer, Marlevin Riande. However, according to his journal, it was stolen by a crewmember who rowed away on a little boat in the dead of night. They tried to follow him, but were beset by unnatural storms and an evil force that seemed to sweep throughout the crew. Eventually they reached an island way off course and by that time the entire ship was in chaos. Nearly half the crew had killed each other. Only Marlevin, his Imperial Guard, and some others were alive by the end of it. On the island, they found the crewmember impaled on a massive bone stake. They looked everywhere, but could not find the relic piece. When they returned to the ship, they noticed that most of them somehow disappeared on the island. Marlevin gave up on it and left for Fortrind. It was his last expedition as he soon went mad as well as the other surviving crewmembers. However, he did draw a convoluted map that leads to the island. However, it is in Tuletan, and no one here knows that. But the most disturbing thing is that it is not guided by stars or landmasses, but by events. So we went to the wise man in the Port to decipher this for us. Fortunately it worked. Unfortunately, he had to die. I've already talked to Bellerusse, and we've plotted our course. It goes directly into the maelstrom circle, which makes sense because no island has been discovered there formally, but by Marlevin Riande, and he was deemed to be insane after his final expedition so it was never recorded. Now I've been talking to Geralt a bit before you two came and he wishes for us to stop at a couple islands along the way for some herbs and other scientific things. They'll be short trips, but they must be made, especially if we want to have some fresh game and fruit on the ship anytime soon. Questions?"

Simon woke up from the hard floor the firth time that night. It had only been a little while, he knew, but he couldn't get himself tired enough to get any sleep. At least, not on this surface. Time to find myself a Hammock

Slipping out from his room again, Simon walked to the hold, picking up one of the old and slightly broken used hammocks on the way. Simon realized that he hadn't had anything to eat for dinner, or lunch for that matter. In fact, he'd even missed mid-afternoon tea! Well now that just wasn't going to do, not at all.

Simon meandered towards the mess deck, passing by the captains quarters on his way... Ok, fine. He went completely out of his way to listen in on the meeting, but Simon is the proverbial cat killed by its own curiosity. After picking out a few key words, such as "Durok artifact", "Two pieces" and "Journal" Simon knew roughly about what they were talking about. Sesile had also written about the artifact, but merely as a side note. The fountain of eternal youth was a better prize, after all. It didn't even drive the discoverer completely mad.

I do wonder when Davian will finish that book. Simon walked towards the kitchen directly now. We will have so much to talk about. Simon threw open the door to the kitchen, slamming it into the ship's wall. He exclaimed, "Mat! Food! And none of the stuff you were serving to me seven months ago!" The sounds of a sleeping cook waking while beneath rather allot of pots and pans sounded from the back of the kitchen. when the last of the clanging stopped, Simon called out, "You alright, Mat?"

"You're the devil, Simon and I hate you. You know that. Please, just let me sleep and steal some food from Kalthak." A miserable little voice sounded from under a large pile of cooking utensils.

"Kalthak is awake?" Simon asked, slightly shocked. The Durok had been drunk enough to give Simon a buzz. Rolling with the punches, Simon moved into the mess hall to talk with his friend, and maybe get some food out of the deal. Ok, maybe that was pushing it a little far...

Kalthak was sitting at the hall with the letter in his hands. A bottle of grog and some dried meat was on the table next to him. He was breathing heavier than he usually does and was constantly licking his eyes with his long tongue since Durok don't have tear ducts and must lick them.

"Yeah, I have some questions." Eduardo spoke up.
"What is this relic good for? If you're planning to sell it back to the Durok, I would like to point out that they aren't that keen on forking over coin for things that are theirs the first place. On top of that the Wild Durok do not use coin to begin with and their mumbo-jumbo baubles are worhtless to the more civilised nations."
Eduardo picked at something between his teeth for a few seconds.
"Also, I, for one, am not very keen on going on some wild-goose chase for imaginay Durok-gold. I've wasted 8 months on that before and the only thing I got to show for it is a scar. If that is going to be our main goal on this trip, I may want to renegotiate my pay."

"We aren't after gold, Eduardo. If that's all we wanted then we could just fish for treasure ships. Ancient Durok legend states that this relic was the weapon of their holy prophet, Mal'shthari, who was believed to be a demi-god. With the relic he was able to take command of the sea and the sky. He could summon forth great tidal waves, hurricanes, and tornadoes. The relic has the power to command the Wild Durok to our beck and call. With it we could topple Empires and become kings! But that's not why I want it. I'll keep my own reasons for myself."

Eduardo spat away his gum into the corner of the room.
"Regardless, I'm being payed for this mad expedition. And I will do my job to recieve my pay. I do intend to see the end of this, to actually recieve my coin. And I highly hope we can partake in some actual pirating along the way, to make this worthwhile."

"I never said such things. I have said that attacking unarmed traders, like most pirates do, is cowardly. Your first mate however, hung up tales of attacking armed treasurefleets. Prey that fights back is honorable prey. And very few fleets are as heavily armed as the Fortrind Treasurefleets. And on that subject, attacking Shalak Privateers and harassing navy fleets in general is just as good prey. And they tend to fetch royal ransomes and is considered just as despicable pirating as attacking traders. But it is something that most capitans do not have the spine to do."
