Tragic accident? Lol?

Accident is dropping the kid, not killing it with fire . (I kno it wasn't fire but they both burn )

It wasn't an accident.  The death (probably) wasn't intended, but that's not the same as an accident.  You don't accidentally plug in a hairdrier and put it in your baby's crib and then go watch a movie in the other room.

Unless you're commenting on your own birth, in which case, nevermind.

sounds like bad luck. maybe the mother was really trying to do her best.

though, it's true that anyone can have children and we never learn before hand how to care about them. why do we find normal to have to learn a lot of things, but not to have to learn how parenting?

Honestly, I don't think what she did is anything more than mildly retarded. I wouldn't call it majorly retarded.

It's a cold night, you don't want to run the run the heat very hard, so you get innovative and use a hair dryer as an unconventional heater.

Yeah, it's an incredibly inefficient heating device, and it's a ****ing hair dryer; the air it blows is pretty damn hot. You'd think after turning it on and waving your hand in front of it you'd decide it's too intense, but apparently she didn't.

When I was ~16 I once draped a blanket over a lamp while I was reading a book because I didn't want the light to be too intense. I feel asleep and in the morning the lamp had tilted down to the carpet and there was a black smear on it. I could very well have burnt down the house. Fortunately the carpet performed pretty awesomely against the heat. What I did was mildly retarded, but sometimes you simply don't give something much thought for whatever reason. Every day, somewhere, there are people that accidentally drive right through a red light and end up getting hit. **** happens.

My question is: if the mother/boyfriend were watching a movie and fell asleep, and the child stuck something in its mouth and choked (a very common death for babies), would the mother still be going to jail? Choking is, after all, mostly preventable. Keep your house in order and keep small stuff where they can't get it. Yet it still happens.

Asking to require a license to parent is impossible. That will never happen. This isn't even "shoot for the moon and you will land among the stars" this is "shoot for the moon and guaranteed miss". A better proposition, one that I personal support, is mandatory parenting classes for everyone. Available in high school, as well as free night school for people who have already graduated.

I'm not sure mental retardation an excuse here. And if the women honestly is (diagnostically speaking) retarded, it is an EPIC fail of the support system...but, oh well, it was in america wasn't it...then that is not SSUCH a surprise

And worst if such innocent beings suffer from it the most like babies...

Somehow must be restricted the humans to be parents... Let raise children only those whom... Well, think of it it's hard to define it exactly...

But still, someones really must be restricted to be parents ever...

Sterilisation, extermination, whatever...
There's already 6billion (!) humans more on this planet what this planet could support...

Compared with the matter of how to get rid of 6.000.000.000 people such not-to-be-a-parent restriction methods are nothing...
