Great graph. In addition, the higher initiative translates to more actions, which means that you can multiply the arcane archers' damage by 1.1 to get a rough idea of average damage output.

yes AA are better than master hunters.. but the original question was if the arcanes are overpowered

if you think about it... no

sure they are great damage dealers but they have a tendancy of.. well... dying fast

there are many counters for them.. confusion.. destructive magic... ranged attacks XD.. fire breath (and the likes)

it all comes down to how well you can counter them.. BUT

if your opponent has focused on an AA build.. then you could be in for a very tough fight... tactics.. trees and unicorns guarding them... magical immunity... take out archers first with rest of army.. and all of a sudden they seem to survive a lot longer.. and do a lot more damage

again it all depends on how well you can counter them.. or how well your opponent can preserve them

I thing they will have needed even the Master hunter abilities+hexing attack. If it will be like this i would have called him Arcane Archer,ut this one is a Arrowblessed Ambusher.(Human Archer i call him).A human arrowblessed bandit.I will try to add this skill to the mine.

they are simply the preferred unit

im talking about imbalanced as in... impossible to beat.. which is hardly the case... even a mass confusion or mass deflect missile... and its already countered XD... not to mention their frailty...

and MH become better when you have the unicorn bow.. even though they dont negate half of the defense... warding arrow makes up for that (and the 2 shots instead of 1)

I'm reading this just after coming back from a very satisfying game of handily beating an Ossir player with arcane archers as Haven

I think they're a very hot and cool unit. If you seize the opportunity to take them down, then they will go down very quickly. Whatever it takes. Blast them with implosion/deep freeze. Target them with your ranged. Dive down from the skies with griffins and rip them to shreds (my favorite). If you let the enemy arcane archers attack more than once at full strength, then you deserve to lose.

They are possibly the best unit in the game, but I have a hard time calling them overpowered simply because I play Haven, which arcane arcane archers shine the most against, and I can still tear them down.

Not tonight. But I'd be interested tomorrow. I used Ellaine against him, which I will say from much personal experience is the most underestimated hero in the game: I wish I saved the replay.

If your arcane archers have been completely wiped out and you need to raise them, then there's like a 99% chance that the other player has melee units on your side of the map by then. It's not hard to just beat them down again in no time. The Ossir player I just killed did that, and my nearby squires ran down and re-massacred them.

Although if you can get them to go again before you have a chance to hit them, it can be good.

very true... there are counters and anti-counters for everything

in the end it comes down to player skill.. or which build has the upper hand

and focusing on AA opens up the door for other sylvan units to thrash you around (especially with their GODLY initiative).. either way.. if you let sylvan go to late game.. you are most likely going to lose

still its always fun to try

One shouldn't get too cocky either. I had a hotseat game with a friend who played necro, I got Power of Dragons but I let him take a few castles and he managed to convert a lot of creatures. Although his army was slightly bigger I thought it would be a walk in the park because undead creatures suck. Turned out he had the Staff of the Netherworld and got lucky on the ATB. Frenzy ruined my formation before I could do anything.

AA are powerful but they are so fragile and their building cost so much wood that if you focus too much on them in the early game you can miss out on Treants and other buildings. Dryads and Treants can be quite useful before getting Resurrection whereas using AA against shooters or casters (or a kamikaze hero) can ruin your army in the long run (not losing any AA makes a hell of a difference).

Let me understand this: those that say AA's are fine because they are fragile and have counters imply that that Master Hunters are uber underpowered, no? Then how come you didn't complain about them before?

This may have been discussed already (i haven't read 10 pages of the thread ), but how much does warding arrow delay a target compared to the force arrow stun?

In the description it says that it does, and it's not "corrected" by the Fan Manual.
