The enhanced edition is out for about 2 weeks now and I need a new DVD-ROM to install the game...
Any impressions anyone?

Well, like I said: chapters 1-2 untouched. The new quests in chapter 3 are fine, though, and make it considerably less short, albeit it's just two of them of regular 5-10 min length (Idk where they got that 4h - stupid marketing). Some bugs were nailed, and Quen was nerfed to oblivion (dissipates after a single hit, doesn't matter if level 1 or level 3).
The new cinematics are very nice, and there's finally a conclusion to each chapter/entire game in the traditional way (read by narrator).
It's generally a patch that adds content that should be there in the first place, but since it IS considered a patch and can be downloaded free, I can't complain - what annoys me slightly is calling it "enhanced edition" when it's just a 2.2 patch with cinematics.
It's pretty rich in content for a patch, but enhanced edition? naaah.
btw: new record: 972 damage in a single swing. It was fun to "fight" Dragon and Letho: I killed the Dragon so fast the game glitched and did not advance to second phase of fight. Letho died to three attacks. (Dark mode).

The enhanced edition is not an add-on, barely an improvement for marketing purposes (if you haven't bought it yet - do it now, etc.). Given that the game is being regularly patched with built-in free DLCs, there's nothing to complain about. The only major improvement that came with the first Witcher's enhanced edition (if memory serves) was the greatly reduced loading time and frankly one couldn't really ask for much more (yeah, there were also some extra lines of dialogue and two "bonus adventures" of about an hour gameplay each but they were... well, a bonus - not really important).
Quen was supposed to be nerfed because it was simply a cookie-cutter, rendering the rest of the signs nigh useless, although 1 hit "durability" of the shield sounds drastic. I'll probably try Igni on its place when I finally start replaying the game.

I've been seriously considering Witcher 2, can anyone give me a quick 'personal' review of the game. All I know is:
- There's a steep learning curve
- Rpg
-Juicy Graphics

Quote: There's a steep learning curve
I don't agree... the game's mind-blowingly simple to master.
Anyway...
Witcher 2 is more of an interactive story than a game, and to get most fun of it, you should consider to play it like that. There's not much "game" in this game - the number of enemies is scarce, they don't give much EXP and there's one godly way to beat all of them - roll in the mud and right click them (that's pretty much all there is to say about the combat). If you expect to have fun with the game's combat system, you will be probably disappointed - it sucks - but if you want an interesting storyline with characters that aren't your typical cRPG pushovers, you'll like it.
It all depends on what kind of games you prefer. If you want to powergame, rise stats, farm stuff et cetera - stay away. If you want to focus on the story and do some fights as an addition to it- you'll love it.

...and make sure to play the first game before you play the 2nd one.
You know, to be able to import your decisions and stuff, and to understand some of the stuff that's going on.
Doesn't hurt that the first game is effing brilliant. The atmosphere in that one is just pure bliss, so damn immersive.

Yea I still like the Witcher 1 more than the 2nd one. It felt more ghetto.

I'll probably buy the Witcher for PC and the 2nd one for Xbox, no decisions get carried on, but atleast I'll experience the game first hand. (My pc certainly can't handle the awesomeness of max settings)
I've read in multiple places that the first one was going to be out on the Xbox. (but was scrapped?)

I finally bought a new DVD-ROM and re-installed the game + downloaded the Enhanced Edition (freakin' 10 gigs, I thought that it will just upgrade the basic game with 1-2 Gb at most...). Will go for Iorveth's path this time.
The new intro looks nice (not that it wasn't released before the enhanced edition itself) but maybe a bit too cartoonish. I'm yet to see the rest of the new content, given that I've just started Act I but so far it looks promising.
By the way parrying reduces the incoming damage completely as long as you are with full Vigour - according to the description at least - but from what I've seen as long as you have any Vigour left you parry 100% of the damage (I'll confirm this when I find some Endriga Queen, the enemies so far could just be hitting too weakly). Don't know when this was changed but it's good to have the parrying back to normal instead of constantly rolling around to avoid damage.

Witcher 2 seems amazing, though I died literally a few dozen times on normal while I figured out the controls, oh yeah and when you peeps said all you have to do is roll n' hit, I thought that it would be the 'generic' invincible 'fable' type of roll. Died a few times during my rolls .
Just finished act 1/chapter 1.

So now I have returned to the Witcher. But to the first game since Steam gave it away for 2 euros. *
Am I doing something wrong, or is the combat like REEEEALLY ackward and clunky compared to how it is in the sequel?

You press the right mouse button, and when the flame shines you tap it to do bonus damage, repeat until done. I prefer the Wither 2's combat, but the Witcher 1's atmosphere is far better imho.

lol I was trying to spam click attack and wondered why the flame thing didn't show up
I think it's interesting to see how much the graphics improved in like 4-5 years. The Witcher 1 reminds me a bit of Fable, but less fantasyesque.

I watch the intro to the Witcher everytime, it gets me into gear, plus it's so good. Plus the damned music.
And yeah I was clicking like mad too, and as I watched my guy get hacked to pieces, I felt as if I was doing something wrong.
