First line up
Minotaurs but not black dragons
Second line up
No minotaurs but black dragons
Third line up
New creatures with some old ones but not very iconic ones.
Hmm minotaurs being that iconic might suffer the unicorns' fate...
With inferno no such problem though. Dungeon voters won't care enough for this line up, and inferno voters will just want demons back and most inferno creatures are cool either way for infernos.

with infernos progress through series, i have no doubt H7 inferno will be full of well designed creatures. all the necessary exiperiments have been done, all the cool creatures has been spotted. pick best ones among them, design them good like pit lords in h6(artistically), upgrade gating ability and you have the perfect faction. simple.
and i agree with chris, i didnt even seen one single person concerned about possible inferno line-ups. clear win-win situation.
on the other hand dungeon.. well.. lol. good luck with that, iconical creatures vs elves vs new creatures vs faction ability. so risky. so hard to maintaince a balance.
i didnt even said purple problem and butterfly wings of dragon. i expect a BIG fight

important correction there.
considering even succubus and pit lord are demons at the same time, having a demon army isnt the same thing like having a humanoid army(like haven's). countless shapes and kinds, provides lots of diversity, at least in theory.

The reasons that no one bothers talking about the Inferno lineup are the following:
• Inferno is not going to win, so it doesn't matter what its lineup would have been.
• Inferno has never, in all iterations of the series combined, had enough interesting units to fill a roster. Other than the Hell Hound, the Nightmare, and (sigh) the Breeder, every unit they have ever had has been "a red dude."
So what is there to be concerned about the lineup? Concerned that five slots for interchangeable "red dudes" might not be enough?
Similarly for the story. Inferno has never had any interesting story or motivation. They are bad and they want to burn things down because they are bad. That's it. That's all they've ever had. The only story arguments people have even had is how to justify them even existing as a faction during the period. It's not like they've ever had a compelling character, non-fire related motivation, or meaningful personality.
Dungeon, meanwhile, has had 19 different creatures in it. Some of them were in Heroes 4, where they got Orcs and Efreeti, and that was a little bit weird. But they were there just the same. You could fill two entire Heroes 7 faction rosters just with repeated races. That's not even counting the fact that you could also fill an entire faction with Elves wearing different pants and hats that have been worn by the Dungeon faction in different games.
Dungeon has enough canon and interesting stuff left over from various editions that there is more than can fit into any single faction. Even before they start adding new units, we know that it's impossible for the faction's roster to cover all the fan favorites. So we argue about it. Because there's something to argue about. Unlike Inferno, which is so boring that the only thing that is worth saying is "write some motivations, write some characters, make some units, tell a snowing story for once." Really, we might as well be asking for a new faction from scratch at that point. We could have a "Hideout" with Gnoll Pirates, or a "Bazaar" with Gnome Merchants, or an "Acropolis" full of Wasp People Priests. Or whatever, because literally any blank slate faction you think up in the bathtub right now is going to have the same problems of not having any established backstory or characters that are worth talking about that Inferno does.
That being said, I of course want the Dungeon to be a zoo full of creatures because that has the greatest chance of bringing back creatures I personally like.

1) Well, that is debatable.
2) Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that as long as they're based on something and play differently.

Actually I prefer purple to red.
Funny thing is, and it has been mentioned before, is that inferno is as monochromatic as dungeon. There is not one unit that is not red, not one.
What is different is that no one will call any of dungeon units "a purple dude".
On top of being just another red piece of meat on fire there is virtually nothing you can squeeze out of that setting that can be any different. Its like you put claws, wings, spike and boobs inside a bowl and you pick random two up, color it red and add fire. Voila new inferno unit... bleh.

exaggeration much? only the lacerator was of bones and muscle the way you are describing it. relax inferno is not going to win apparently so lets just leave the "blob" argument aside, it's stupid. and it's exaggerating. cerberus succubus, pit lord was not like this. neither the ravager nor the maniac. they had red seared flesh that apparently didn't read too well on the screen. the "whole" red thing i can agree although i don't remember anyone in H6 complaining about the red. also in heroes 3 everything was red in inferno.
we exaggerate on things that didn't bother us in the past (like the story and how ashan is put under the uber microscope, inferno or even the purple).
i don't think anyone here will change his vote and that, his vote will affect the outcome. so why argue or bring arguments about our preference now?

1) I would.
2) We're equating entire settings to meat now?
3) Which is why I prefer when they were actually based on existing mythology or at least biblical references.
It's pointless to discuss Inferno the way things are going anyway.
Let's instead bet on whether they'll bother to come up with an actual name for the Faceless unit this time around.

On the topic of Dungeon line-up ... I think the biggest problem for me is coming up with a really iconic core creature for this faction besides the Assassin (which I think is nice) and the Evil Eye. Perhaps the Troglodyte or some sort of mushroom creature could work (maybe even in one of the same unit). I don't like the Shadow Panther concept, there's nothing from what I've seen of this unit that makes me think anything other than just a panther, and that's just ... meh.
I think my suggestion for Dungeon would be:
Core:
Troglodyte?
Assassin (with strike and return á la H5 Fury worked into it)
Evil Eye
Elite:
Shadow Witch
Minotaur
Manticore
Champion:
Faceless
Black Dragon
This for me has a good balance between unit types on each level: Core has a ranged, a fast melee and a slow tanky melee, elite has a caster/shooter, a melee and a flyer.

Problem is even if I did not want to save Hydra for swamp faction, I don't really see a need to have it there. I think all three Elites above are good fits for Dungeon, and same goes for both Champions. If I had a hard time filling either spot Hydra would have been my next choice on the list, but .. I haven't ...
